Give me a break!! Here is an article in the news about Jehovah's Witness parents refusing to give their new borns a blood transfusion. They had sextuplets and two died and the other four were in great danger of dieing. But the parents refused to allow a blood transfusion so the govenment siezed the childeren and gave them a blood transfusion to save their lives. I totally agree what the goverment did. Now the parents are suing the goverment because they wanted a hearing first?? !

Yeah its something about thier religious belief. I remember watching an episode of "House" and it had the same issue.

 

Why should those babies die when they can be treated?? If you know as a doctor you can save those babies why wouldn't you? They couldn't stand there and watch them die? They went to a hospital. What did they think was going to happen?? Your in a government building. Deliever at home then and deal with the issue there.

 

No way would the government stand by and watch 4 babies die. Then it would leave the door open for another law suit cause the parents could say the hospital did nothing to save the babies. I believe the government did the right thing here and seized the babies. Apparently the 4 babies are doing fine now. Now the parents get to enjoy the rest of their lives with their 4 kids instead of 0 kids. And not knowing they let their 6 kids die.

 

Now I don't agree with the JWs, but we hear an awful lot about separation of church and state. WHen did that become a one way street?

Personally, I think modern medicine is mostly given by God, so we should use it. But their religious beliefs should not be interfered with by the government. IF we want God out of government (I don't, but a vocal few do), then government needs to stay out of God.

One other thought came to me. There are thousands of abortions every day. What is better about these 6 babies than the ones the government is allowing to be killed by "choice"? If these 6 couldn't survive on their own, many would say it is God's will. The other ones suffer at their mother's will.

I agree on the constitution, there's a lot of people that read things that aren't there and take things out that are there.

As for Canada... they want to be America, so they should just keep doing the elephant walk behind us. I missed that it was Canada. But I still think the government shouldn't have it's nose in there.

Depending on your religious beliefs, it's a tough one... I just think the government has it's nose in our lives WAY too much.

 

Crazy people come from all walks of life. When it comes to religion, there are some crazies. But, if they truly believe it is God's will, who are you or I to argue the point? It's not like they put a pillow over the babies, they allowed nature to takes its course. They didn't withhold food and water, just didn't allow what they consider extreme treatment. Good or bad, not for me to say, but it was natural. Personally, I would want the kids to live - but not by the government stepping in.

 

The government did the right thing. I liken it to the same as if those parents were crack heads endangering those kids, the babies didn't have any choice in the matter so social services rescued them.

Canada is not at all like a bible belt state, religion is far far from government.
As for this statement...
..get over yourself already.
