Foam tool box cut outs...DIY?
Yeah, I've done it with my aircraft tools. (you do it to make sure all of your tools got put back)
I laid all the tools out where I wanted them, gave a very light dusting of flat paint (enough to barely see the outline of the tools, but light enough that you can just wipe the tools off- flat works best for this). I would use a color pretty close to the foam, like a dark grey or something. Then, I used a soldering iron with an exacto-type blade (on medium-low heat) to cut it out. It's a long, painstaking process, but the results were pretty good.

Thanks for all the info! that hot exacto knife sounds like a good idea!
I googled "foam tool cutouts" and found some pretty good site. It was pretty pricey IMO. I'm gonna try a hbby shop and see what they have
I can never seem to be able to find the foam. Where do you get this stuff for a 40" Snap-On box. I hate having to rearange every time I move more than 10 feet
Sears sells the foam in packs of three. One sheet is big enough to do one regular sized drawer, when you move to the bigger drawers, they can fit together. Put shelf liner under the foam pads. Arrange all the tools on the foam a couple of times before you cut, I had to redo mine twice because I kept thinking of ways I liked better.
