Im not saying the UAWU is evil, it worked when every one bought from the big 3 and all 3 companies were unionized.
Now its a global economy and the foreign companies dont have unions. The big 3 cant compete against that. The UAWU refuses to deal with the reality of the times and wont release its death grip on the big 3. And its dragging all 3 companys down.

I sure hope we don't have to cover the reading comprehension thing again...

About the pay, so? Good. Unions do more than assist in getting the company to pay their employees better.
Make sure the employees rights aren't being infringed upon.
Yes, there are downsides to a union, I know, but the downsides to not having one are far and beyond greater.
Last I checked workers were laid off by the company, not the union. When there's no work, you get laid off, union or not, and the UAW workers that got laid off got laid off because their respective companies can't balance their books, and those guys are to blame for the job losses, not the union.

The UAW negotiated ridiculous contracts with the big 3 because there's a lot of bad union protecting laws in this country, not because the employees deserved it. In the real world, you make $10-15 and hour to do lug nuts. UAW lug nuts make $60,000... such a highly trained position really should.
When normal workers make $30-40K annual, how can you expect them to pay $40-50K for a vehicle? It is nuts.
PS: I also think the upper management at the big 3 is way overpaid - but they negotiated their own deal and obviously someone thinks that they are actually earning their keep.

I've had and gotten rid of many employees that weren't worth $10 annually, never mind thousands. There are thousands of jobs that pay lower wages. Would you go to McDonalds and buy a $20 Big Mac? You are living off those people. The UAW in particular has falsely inflated wages in tasks requiring little to no skill.
The company rarely "offers" the increases and huge retirement packages, more like they are forced into a corner, it's that or the workforce will walk out... worked when the wages and benefits were mediocre, now is putting the companies out of business.
Frankly, Caterpillar hit the nail on the head when there was a strike in Peoria, IL. They found a way to take the jobs elsewhere, in that case Georgia.
Most union workers don't understand economics well enough to discuss the point, they only look in their own wallet... then cry when the evil company moves their job. Better wise up or lose out.

I am responsible for any and all problems that arise and I am expected to find a immediate solution. The upper managment types demand a larger paycheck because they have the education and skills to deserve that pay. People who tighten bolts do not earn 60k a year, they are given that because of the unions. Bolting down a bed, or installing a motor should pay no higher than 40k a year. It is unskilled labor a monkey could be taught to perform.
