Test drove a lightning today

Well my local ford dealership has a silver lightning, have had for a week charcoal wheels, nitto 555's on back, went there today and looked at it and talked to a guy. It has a brand new engine because the previous owner tuned it him self and went lean, BOOM, complete from top to bottom, flowmasters, very nice shape, I asked for the keys and we went around town. He said feel free to have fun in it, because he has had his fun. This was my first time driving lightning, and I Love it. I figured it would be a mistake, well they wanted 17,900 for it I told him ill definitely think about it and ill probably be back later, just so he wouldn't keep talking, but yea, it was fun! Very fast and tight handling trucks! I then test drove a roush mustang, blue with white stripes, 5 speed, it was nice, but im sure the lightning was faster. I had a fun day

What year was it??

Depending on the Miles on the chassis and new motor that doesn't sound like a bad deal to me.

I would want to see written documentation that a NEW engine was put in. what about the transmission?

lightnings are great trucks I would love to have one as my DD.

I like them too but if you really want to go fast dont get a truck. It takes so much more horse power to go fast in a truck than it does in a car. I see a truck as a cruising vehicle or something that can tow or go off road not as something that is quick. Dont get me wrong I would love to have one but if I feel the need for speed I'll get on a crotch rocket or if you dont like bikes get a 03 Cobra.

If you have the choice stay with the 03 and the 04. The heads have two more threads for the spark plugs, so spitting a plug is less likely and the intercoolers, maf is better. The axle gears are 373's.

I am the very regretful seller of my 04 lightning, hard to drive any other truck after one of those.. they just handle so awsome.

haha yea well I like fast trucks, not everyone can make one fast. Thats why I built the engine that is going in my truck, expected 600hp at the flywheel... it should move. nothing is better than smoking some little rice rocket that things they can walk all over me, and the look on their face as a big loud *** lifted truck flys by them is priceless.

it was a 2000. It did have a complete new engine, I saw it, and it came with a 3 year warranty on the engine. I'm not looking to buy it, I just never drove one before.
