For any tech savvy people:

Im running an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 which i have overclocked by about 40%, so it is running at nearly 3.2-3.3ghz (yes quadcore people, mines faster )
It also has a 8800 GTX graphics card, Nvidia nforce 680 SLi motherboard, 2gb Corsair XMS2 ddr800 RAM, creative X-fi soundcard, seagate 320gb hardrive (i need to get a raptor and run them in RAID) and the computer is powered by a 650 watt power supply.

I wish i could show you guys the directx10 graphics this thing punches out, its truely amazing. Vista runs great, and it looks awesome on my 20" LCD monitor.
my heatsink is bigger 9700>9500

my hd is bigger and faster 2x250Gb sata raid0

my CPu is faster e6750 oced to 3.6

my E-**** is also bigger too

ok my single 7950gx2 sucks but I don't care

sounds like a nice rig What chipset and RAM? 3dmark06 scores??

this is also my first system, i was on a budget and i think i did pretty darn good. i was going to get the 9700 but it wouldnt fit in my case. i plan to get a raptor drive soon and run it in RAID. might also get another GTX cheap off a friend and run it in SLi.

upgrade to a dx10 card, it works wonders (but you also have to get Vista, and not all the drivers are completely perfect yet...)

well thump we are pretty much living the exact same routine. student, GF, working when off school, working out, i too sold a bunch of stuff recently to get money (old model trains actually, you'd be amazed at what people pay for that stuff).

ya people are really anticipating those 9 series cards, they are supposed to get all the kinks out and be 100% smooth etc etc.

i dont really have a bottleneck on my system right now, i could OC a ton more. if i was to run my CPU stock i would have to underclock my RAM. and the 680i SLi is awesome for overclocking, and with the zaleman my temps are perfectly fine, plenty of room for more OC. its just so fast now i dont really need to OC more, and i dont want to shorten the life of my parts too much.

I cranked the HELL out of my vcore and couldn't get 3.6 or 3.8 I was PISSED!!! i'm rock solid @ 3.2 1.35vcore but at like 1.5 I cant get it to boot windows at 3.6. i'm like WTF!!!!!!. I think it has something to do with the ram tho, i'm also pissed I cant run stalker with any kind of HDR at even minumum settings, yet I can run HL2, DOOM3, Farcry and Prey with 16x Af 4-8x AA with @ 1680x1050 with eveything maxed..... makes no sense

ya, man that sounds annoying. my graphics card destroys everygame on highest settings, FEAR i get like 172 fps no prob. nov 16th Crysis hits the market, cant wait. that will be a good dx10 test.

On my OC, i havent even had to up the voltage yet. If i pushed it much further i would though, one of these days im going to see if i can hit 3.8 or 4.0 and still keep temps decent. i know my RAM and mobo can handle it no prob. and generally the e6600 and the other c2d procs are excellent OCs but sometimes they just wont go the length. i would do it just for kicks, i wouldnt run it there though.

my friend has similar OCZ RAM as your and it doesnt OC well at all either. go with corsair next time.

That's easy, try having kids!!! Wanna see a money drain? Have a kid.

Nice pc. I have a Dell XPS Gen 4, 3.73 GHz hyperthreading cpu Extreme Edition, 1066 MHz FSB, 2 GB ram running at 533 MHz, 160 gb hd, ATI Radeon x850PE w/256mb of video ram, SB Audigy ZS sound card, almost got it paid off!! Top o' the line back in early 2005.

In case you guys like tweaking your registry to improve performance, I suggest http://www.tweakxp.com/

That is a very good site frequented by other XP operators and things they have found to work, and things to avoid!!

Can I call your uncle my uncle too?

I've built many PC's and they run great for awhile, but their like an old Chevy... Oil leaks, loss of power, starts to misfire, so you have to pull the engine and rebuild it.

Screw that.
