Chevy Traverse spotted

It'd only be a matter of time.

With the high-profile cancellation of General Motors’ next-generation minivans, you didn’t think that Chevrolet dealers would stand for not getting a vehicle based on the Lambda platform, did you? Neither did we.

Brenda Priddy & Co’s spy shots show that the Bowtie-badged stablemate to the GMC Acadia, Saturn Outlook, and Buick Enclave is moving along in development. Captured just moments ago on the Las Vegas Strip, the Chevrolet, tentatively dubbed “Traverse,” is expected to be produced as a 2009 model at GM’s Spring Hill, Tennessee plant, formerly known as the touchy-feely birthplace of Saturn.

While it appears that GM is taking pains to create a distinct look for this three-row Chevy crossover, we wouldn’t bet on major innovations over the rest of the company’s Lambda posse. As such, bet on GM’s high-feature 3.6-liter V-6 mated to a six-speed automatic, gobs of space, and a credibly refined driving experience.

I dunno, some people consider this "lambda" style to be an suv, 5 SUVs for chevy? I do like the saturn outlook, and this chevy one looks like it might be somewhat good looking, but the acadia and enclave look too minivanish to me.

I dont liek crossovers. Either get a damn SUV or get a car. My neighbor has one of those infiniti crossovers and I think it looks like a shoe.

We are thinking about a new car for my wife. We were thinking about a 1-2 year old Cadillac SRX. Recently we started thinking about the GMC Acadia. I'm sure it's about the same thing Traverse but with a better looking grill We drove the GMC and the Buick, and we liked them both quite a bit. They drive nice and get great gas mileage for their size with the ability to carry 7 passengers.

The only issue for me is the cost. I can get a great used SRX for about $20,000. The Buick and the GMC run from high $20's to mid $40 Not sure what we'll get yet. I like the Freestyle, but the CV trans scares the crap out of me. Wonder what a rebuild of that trans costs? We keep our cars 10-12 years or about 200,000 miles.
