computer problem

Not really a problem, but how do you change what programs open when your computer turns on? I knew at one time, but forgot.

Edit: I have windows XP

There's a bunch of ways, really.

1) Check the Startup folder in the All Programs Menu, you can add/remove some that way
2) Start>Run>type "msconfig" and hit enter, then go to Startup and uncheck whatever you don't want/need
3) You can also do it by editing the registry (Start>Run>Regedit) but you can mess stuff up pretty easy that way. If you want to try it let me know and I'll tell you the exact keys to go to.

msconfig is for sissies!!

HKLM/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run

Don't forget to check HKCU as well as your startup group (start/all programs/startup).

For Services you have to go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services.

That's all the crap that runs to support your bloated OS.

You likely need most of 'em LOL!

Don't believe me? Go turn some of 'em off & see what happens

Seriously - just Google the Service to check if it's not a malware artifact of some kind ...

I use a MAC - Freakin PC's!! Yea msconfig only shuts them off , like what's already been said above , it doesn't get rid of the crap , you have to delete from services if I remember right .

HKLM/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run

That's it right there for the other crap..

I'm glad I don't have to do all that with UNIX underpinnings.... Well, yet anyway.
