18 wheeler horns???

ok... so last week me and some friend took a road trip last day of summer b4 school started back... i just installed a new train horn on my truck so every 18 wheeler we pulled up too we'd have a little "horn off" with them to see who's is louder... hahahaha... and i noticed that all the "newer" models of 18wheelers, then they'd hit there horn it would sound week like a regular car horn but when an "older" style simi honked it would be the air horns?!?! did they pass a law there simi's cant be equiped with air horns anymore?!?!

No such law. Most trucks have an air horn and an electric horn which is just like a car horn. Some truckers refrain from using the loud air horns for fun due to the fact it might scare the bejeesus out of someone next to them and cause an accident. I've asked truckers before why some guys don't blow their horn anymore when they pass a school bus full of kids with their arms out the windows giving the universal arm pump to blow. Most have told me they would love to do it for the kids but couldn't bear the thought of scaring the crap out of the bus driver and maybe causing him to crash.

My International has a weak assed airhorn. It's located under the hood so it's muffled, as well. Company truck.

Need an electric horn upgrade

Sooo what's the loudest electric horns anyone had been able to find? I don't want to go with all that 'real' air horn trip. I had a set I put on my '92 F150 right after I bought it. I picked them up at a local parts store which has since gone out of business. They had a real small electric compressor, not much larger that a large soda can and pumped into two small air horns. They were advertised as 136 db and were a LOT louder than the stock horns. I kick myself for not pulling them off the truck before I traded it. I had them on there for a good 16 years and they were still working. I'll be damned if I can remember the name. Seems like I still had the package label in the truck and might have been called something like 'Blastmaster'. I want something in that range but what I've seen in the parts stores lately don't give any rating to them. What's out there for a reasonable price?
