Got a new daily driver!

Staying with the supercharged theme, I picked up an 04 E55 this weekend. I hate to say it, but it feels quite a bit more powerful than my Lightning does...but my L only puts out around 400rwhp so it may need to hit the gym!

I love the E...neck snapping power, lots of room for my 6'7" frame, and has the whine.
However, the Lightning still gets the respect of staying in the 1 car garage!

Wow, I thought I had it good when I upgraded my daily driver from a 1994 Tempo to a 1999 Taurus!

If I wanted to get a classy daily driver it would be a Lincoln LS, but thats a nice car man.

nice! I've been thinking of picking up one of those myself, the 04's are pretty cheap... was looking at that and the CL55...seem to go for around $45k.

the pawn...

I've owned 2 CL's (a 500 and a 600 2003 model year) and I believe the E-class is the way to go. The CL's have alot of problems with the ABC suspension until the recent styling update among many other things. They are beautiful cars though! The E's seem to be less problematic (knocking on wood...).

45k was a very good guess on the price of these. It is usually more like 50k+ for one with good options under 30,000 miles. Mine was in the 40's but has 36,000 miles and is pretty much loaded. It does have some wear-and-tear on it, but nothing a good detail job and touch-up won't fix.

Sorry Rob!

The engine is still stock. The cost of mods on this thing is unreal though.
(Renntech) Pulley, airbox and ECU = $7695!!
Pulley, headers, ECU, and Throttle body...... $11,800!!!

The gains for the above combos are 60 and 90 horses respectively. However, with the pulley mod, the blower gets heat-soaked pretty quickly. It all sounds vaguely familiar!!!

Suddenly, the Lightning seems very cheap to mod!

Awesome.

Yeah I think the AMG has a lot more squeezed out of it than the Ls. It's hard to improve on something that well engineered.

Well, my logic for that was the Lightning has the rims, and audio mods (hu, sub, amp, radar detector, etc...) that would make it very tempting for kids to break into not to mention joyride in.

I suppose it is time to pony up for a good alarm system for the L.

Ummm, yeah. Your L is nice and all, but it still isnt nice enough to put in the garage over that (except that your right about it getting broke in). That is a sick car. My father and brother both have Mercedes cars. My dad has an
S430 (I drive it often and its quick so Im sure yours is ultra fast!) and my brother has a CLK430. That AMG had to have cost an arm and a leg. Im sure it will do mid 12's at the dragstrip no problem.

It runs 12.39 in 1/4 and 0 to 60 in 4.2
