Bass guitar

Alright, im going to start learning bass guitar from one of my buddies. Any one play? Is it hard to learn? I already play the Tuba so bass is in me. Besides that I already play the tuba, the bass lines in songs are the best part of the song IMO so thats why I wanna learn.

ive played guitar for 7 years. or 8, im not sure which. if you can play guitar, you can play bass, so i know how to play.

its not very hard at all, you have to have good timing, and thats pretty much it.

if your already dedicated to an instrument, it wont take long, if your serious about it. good luck

You might like standard more than Bass. Man it gets monotonous practicing!

coming from a tuba background you'll do great if put some effort into it!

there's quite a spectrum of bass in music, and imo, playing guitar might give you a better inital idea of how the notes lay out on the fretboard, but bass is a whole 'nother animal entirely...

and you're right about the bassline being the best part of the song! (most of the time)

what kind of music will you play?

When you're talking electric amplified instruments, bass guitar is the most important part of the mix. Drop out the bass in a recording or stage show and the song crashes. Not so with any other instrument, including drums.

Well, if anything Im learning it so I can fool around and try to learn a song that I like. When I start to get to know my way around the bass guitar i'll fool around with some Red Hot Chili Peppers songs. Best band.

Well that's gonna take a bit of time and effort, but if you're willing to put in a lot of practice it can be done.

For your first bass, don't try to get fancy. Just get an inexpensive, reliable four-string bass. No point in worrying about 5 or 6 strings at this point.
