Sponsered Trucks
I see a few people on here with there trucks that they get the "mods for free" because they are sponsored. I also see people driving around town with there modded up truck. I really want to know how people get to do this and get the "free experience" haha.
Thx!
Just wondering if anyone has info on that stuff!

Well, if you become a SEMA member and show at the SEMA Show, you can usually get $10-20K of "free" stuff. Of course, between membership and getting your booth together, plan to spend a minimum of $50K. Probably cheaper ways to get things "free".
I have been asked the question because like many people on here and other truck sites, I at one point drove a sponsored truck. I had about 15-20 different sponsors which accounted for about $15000 in mods:
.
My advice is, if you have money to build a truck, don't bother with it. If you have already built a show-worthy rig and just want to stick some more **** on it, it might work out for you, otherwise you'll likely spend more time and money and frustration trying to get sponsored, versus what it is actually worth to you.
My truck was at SEMA in 2003 and 2004 so I was able to get a decent amount of sponsors because of that, otherwise most of the sponsorships I had before that opportunity were fairly minor. Remember, sponsors are looking to sponsor you because htey hope to make more in sales as a result then they spend on the product they give (or sell at a reduced price) to you. They aren't just giving you stuff to stick their logo on your vehicle if you aren't getting them exposure, otherwise its a worthless investment for them. Most companies won't sponsor stock vehicles unless you have a set plan for how the vehicle is to be modified, such as graphics rendering, other sponsors already lined up, shows lined up, exposure lined up, magazine articles, tv exposure, etc.
Think of it this way... when you watch a show like any "garage" type show where they are showing how to do the mods, the companies that provide those mods not only give them the product for free, but also likely pay them tens of thousands of dollars, because the amount of money they will make as a result of others seeing the show is worth it to them. What's the likelihood that someone will buy a product based on your vehicle having it? If its a stock or even semi-stock or even moderately modified vehicle, not much.
