Motorcycle Madman in Michigan

I love this state...

REESE, Mich. (AP) - A motorcyclist arrested whizzing through town at 137 mph told police he was just trying to be punctual, authorities said Tuesday.

The 37-year-old claimed he was "late for work."

A police officer stopped the biker at 3:35 a.m. about 80 miles northwest of Detroit. Authorities said the man had earned a spot on their bulletin board.

"We have a `Wall of Fame' here in the report room, and when anybody arrests someone traveling over 100 mph, we mark it down," Tuscola County Sheriff's Lt. James Giroux said.

"This 137 mph is the new record," he added.

The man was in the county jail Tuesday awaiting arraignment on a charge of fleeing and eluding police.

A side note, a buddy of mine, driving his '01 Trans Am, was clocked doing 124 on one of the local interstates here in town. His excuse?? A BMW M5 passed him, he thought he could catch it... fool...

I've barely gotten my bike into triple digits, let alone ½ way to 200mph...

Last summer, we had a guy up here grabbed for 85 over in a 65 zone - in a Subaru WRX STi... guess he figured he was Colin MacRae.

Actually, if you're already going 100, 150 is the half way mark to 200.

From a standstill you are correct, 100 is halfway to 200.

He has a point folks.

The fastest I've been on a bike is 100 MPH...that's enough for me.

Wow, I guess in this crowd I shouldn't admit how fast I've had my CBR 929RR up to. You guys would thing I'm a madman too I will say that it has been to 6th gear, and 11,000 RPM. (whenever I go fast, it's on a deserted road, with no trees around for cars, cops, or moose to sneek out on the highway in front of me.

Phsshhh I bang my 1000RR off the limiter in 6th with an HRC ECU which raises limiter to 13.5K.

Of course I would never go over 70 mph on a public road

I'd only ever do something like that on the track

I was thinking about getting the 1K RR, but couldn't justify it since I like my 929 so much. Have you ridden the 929 for comparison?

I traded a 929 for the 1K. the 929 was a better street bike IMO, but the 1K is a much better trackbike once you lose the HESD
