A grand mal seizure is a type of "generalized seizure". Gran mal means there was a loss of consciousness. Usually it will start with muscle stiffening / convulsions / and then loss of consciousness.

Other types of generalized seizures could involve a brief or partial loss of consciousness, or just convulsions, or just muscle rigidity.

Not sure what you mean by "normal" seizures.

Seizures can result from any number of conditions (e.g. epilepsy) that need to be professionally diagnosed.

You shouldn't be inquiring about this here. Speak to her doctor.
