Worst Injury incurred by stupidity

OK, someone make me feel better. I got the news from the doctor today that I need surgery and I'm going to be out of work for a month, all due to my stupidity.

Saturday, I was cutting a thick sheet of wood with my circular saw for a household project. Long story short, I inadvertantly grabbed the sawblade underneath the wood. I'm not going into the details of how it happened but rather the result...

4 hour trip to emergency, a cut from my ring finger to my thumb across the palm of my hand, 10 stitches (which will be more after tomorrow's surgery), followed by a cast that will encompass my entire right hand down to my elbow. I will have no use of my right hand for about 4 weeks. The surgery will reattach the severed nerves in my ring finger and thumb, which are completely numb right now. :o

The good news is I have a month off of work and I'll be able to spend a lot more time on this website. The bad news is I'm right handed

So, help a fellow member out, lets hear all the idiotic things you've done that have resulted in surgery or personal injury...

Ignoring ice on parking lot, feet going out from under me while carrying baby, severe ankle spairn requiring cast and torn rotator cuff. He was not hurt at all as I twisted so as not to land on him.

I hear ya. I took a spill with my 3 year old in my arms on some ice over the winter, no serious injuries to me and she landed on top of me but it is amazing how instinct makes you react when you have a child in your arms.

I was using my dremel to cut away part of an airdam to make way for tow hooks. Was working overhead, lying on the group. Dremel wheel snapped (liek tehy always do, hence my idiocy in even trying it) after about 60 seconds of grinding and landed under my shirt at a searing several hundred degrees (bad enough that I can still tell where on my chest it was, and that was abotu 5 years ago). The worst part was in the process of trying to get the dremel wheel off my skin, I jerked my head and smashed by head into my brush guard.

i've been injured several times working on vehicles, but most of the time I blame something or someone else. That was my sheer stupidity.

yep, he was about one, and I twisted so fast and hard, tore up my ankle. All instinct. Why did it stick when it wouldn't as I was walking?

I hate those cheesy dremel cut-off wheels.....I use the Dubro fiberglass reinforced cut-off wheels. I could wear those all the way down without worry of them breaking off.

When I was about 7 I saw my oldman tip a push mower back and give the blades a spin(He heard a funny noise). It was a fun trip to the E-room, me my grandpa, my dad and a jar of ice with 3 finger tips in it....From that day on I knew always to diconnect the plug. Mine was with the killer highlift jack. I was changing out shackles in the rear of my jeep and thought what the hell I'll just jack the whole thing up. The jeep started tippin and I went to lower the Highlift. I was holding on to the spare so it wouldnt fall over and the highlift handle slipped out of my hand. WHACK WHACK WHACK. It took me 3 hits to the right side of my head before my dumbass moved. I had a little blood in the ear and 3 nice knots on my head.
