Precision mouse suggestions....

Just like the title says, I'm looking for a very precise mouse.

Like to spend no more than $60-$70, but willing to pay what ever I need to for exact 1/2 a pixel precision, for very large graphics, where 1/2 pixel over 40" is visibly noticeable

Anyone got one that makes you say "Wow, how did I ever do it with the $15 wal-mart cheapy?!?"

Logitech G5 Laser mouse. Made for gaming, but very precise... also has adjustable weights... I paid like $50 for mine, and love it.

Well I dont know exactley how to measure precisness, but I would say the one I have is pretty precise

Say Im on Photoshop and use the brush tool and make a dot that is one pixel. If I zoom in 3 times I can stick the same 1 pixel brush tool in that dot and move it around in a square without ever going outside the edge of that pixel. I dunno if that measures any precisness at all or not It goes where I want it to anyway.

Its a F'n GE. I didnt even know they make mouse

x2 for the G5, I personally have the cordless verson of the G5called the G7. Only downside with it is that u have a quickchange battery pack that is kinda annoying, but if you like cordless it has the same specs of the G5 but with a 90dollar price tag.

Thats more percise than this cheap $12 logitec is. If I tried ot move inside a pixel, it would stay still for a little bit then jump 15 pixels over. Pisses me off to no end. I can spend 2 mins trying to drop a guide down when it should be a single click and release operation.

I just remembered that I hadnt installed the software/drivers for it on this computer. Was just using windows drivers. So did that now, we'll see if they will help it enough to get me through the rest of the night til tomarrow.

Think I'm probbaly going to be shopping for one of those G5's...
Although not sure about this adjustable weights thing... What is that? Are my fingers going to be working out while I'm working?

I've always been a fan of Logitech, but the Razor gaming mice are pretty nice. I was going to buy one a while back, but I bought a wireless keyboard/mouse combo instead.

I still like my original MS Intellimouse Explorer laser mouse that I bought about 7 or 8 years ago. I like it so much I just got a replacement off ebay for when this one finally dies. I'm on the 4th set of mouse skatez on it.

might as well get the g5, my brother got it, passed me down this wireless keyboard n mouse by microsoft, he got months out of the battery on the mouse, im barely getting 2 weeks .

anyway about the g5. the weights, they look like little cell batteries, the more you put in, the heavier it is, the less, the lighte it is.

Is that so when I get mad and slam it on the shelf it has more mass force coming down?

Seriously why would you want a heavier mouse? Seems a lighter mouse would be ideal, less effort to scoot around.

My guess would be more inertia. This would make the mouse less sensitive to hand shakes etc. It would make each movement of the mouse a deliberate action.

Matt:

If you are looking for precision in Photoshop...I would HIGHLY recommend getting a Wacom tablet. You will never be able to touch the precision of a tablet with any mouse. I know that this option is a bit over your price requirement, but it will pay for itself in a manner of a few projects due to your increase in productivity.

Anyone serious in Photoshop should be using a tablet. PERIOD. An I am willing to step out on a limb and say that this statement is Kobi™ approved

If you have any specific questions, shoot me an email cause I don't get the time I used to for this site.
