Mattress Suggestions...

Hey guys, I'm going to be in the market for a new mattress pretty soon. I'm still up in the air about what to get though. I just wanted to get everyones opinions on what would be a good mattress. I'm getting a queen size and I was thinking along the lines of Sealy... They have a really good mattress that is fairly firm and that's really what Im looking for. I'm not real sure on other brands of mattresses that might be good though. Im not looking to pay anything over about 900$ though. I figure I can find a good mattress for less than that. Any input is appreciated...

My advice would be to buy from a store that has a 30 or 60 day no questions asked return policy. That way if you don't like it you can return it for a different one. Last one we bought we returned after a week and chose a different model. The second one was a keeper.
What is a great mattress for one person might suck for another. You really have to try one to see if it works for you.

Great advice. The return policy should be a huge factor. Just going in to the store and lying on one of their floor models for a few seconds/minutes isn't the best way to make your judgement. You gotta test drive that biotch for a few nights to really get a thorough opinion.

Fantastic mattress!! We've had ours for about 12 years and it's still just as comfortable as it was when it was new. There aren't very many regular inner spring mattresses that you can say that about! We paid somewhere along the lines of $700 for a queen size then, no idea what they cost now. That was just the mattress too, we had a box spring from another bed that we used so we didn't buy their box spring. Another good thing about them is they're filled with air, way lighter and easier to handle than a regular mattress. Plus when its time to move, you simply deflate it, fold it all up, stuff it in a couple of boxes and off you go!

Good luck!!

Select Comfort. My fiancee and I have had ours about 1 1/2 years and so far it is great. My side is set soft and her side firm. We ended up buying a queen size that was 1 or 2 steps down from the top of the line and I know it cost over $1000 but I don't remember how much. Go to one of there stores and check them out. They have 4 or 5 models to chose from that vary quite a bit on price.

Here's another vote for the Sleep Number bed. I've had mine for about 6 years, with no problems (or back pain!). Mine is the pillow-top, one model down from their top model...I think I paid around $1500 for the matress and foundation. I don't know off hand what the price would be for just the matress itself.

A wise man once told me to "Never skimp on the quality of your matress and your shoes. You'll spend well over half you life on them."

You work 8 hours a day on your feet and sleep for another 6 hours... That's half your day right there.

I can't help you though. My matress was bought at a yard sale. I think I gave $15 for it. Stains were free though.

*OVER* half you day.

Unless you have one of those jobs where you sit all day.. then you have worse problems than a bed.

I was doing an average. Most people don't get 8 hours of sleep a day. I never do.

I know 8 and 6 don't equal EXACTLY 1/2 of a 24 hr day. LOL
