If you look below the speed limit sign, there is a second sign and it is 55 mph for any vehicles with a trailer, and they do enforce it.

Yes, and driving 55 from Chicago to St. Louis is a VERY boring ride. It's bad enough at 65.

I gurantee you it's rough!!!

I've taken 64 from St Loui to Charleston WV......
Thats a long old boring old drive!!!!
Not so bad once you hit Kentucky, start seeing hills and trees again and I start feeling much more comfortable.

77 S out of Charleston, that was actually a fun little drve. Dont know how I kept from getting nailed becasue I was doing 90 with out realizing it between toll boths. That was in december and it was snowing.......
Everyone was slowing down creepin along, snow plows are out spreading salt, cant headlights reflecting back in your eyes off the snow..... here I am being the idiot I always laugh and cuss at... doing 90 mph in it, snapping pics with the cell phone trough the windshield!!!
You just felt like gran tourismo racing game through there, I told my dad this is like a video game!!!!

ETA of course we had drove it non stop, stayed in Havelock NC for 4 hours then turned around and drove it back. We were a little slap happy and intoxicated from the sleep deprivation.

Quit your bitching and go over to the Jewel and get an Ipass. With it, the tolls are the same as they were many years ago, what they did was double the cash tolls to make an incentive to go electronic.

What you really need to do is move closer to work. Your stress level will decrease dramatically.
Well lets see.... I already have an I-pass so the gov can watch me. And you say move closer to work? I work construction so what the hell should I do move every 2-3 months when a new job starts.

PSS- Let the take over begin I will be the mole.

Now for those of you that don't like the FIBs (*******ing Illinois Bast..., you get it), come live up here in Wisconsin. All summer they come up here - every weekend - and bring their horrible traffic to our fine state. I'm convinced that's why our State Patrol are such SOBs on Friday and Sunday nights!

On the bright side, I know several cops that pick them out to write tickets to.

As far as I know IL is the only state that does this. What a bunch of BS. Oh yeah when you get your ID back from Springfield, if you get it back it has some nice staple holes in it.
So let me see if I get this right:

If you break the law (read: speed), the po-po punishes you.

I fail to see what the problem is here. Gotta pay to play.

Normally I agree, but they have a bad reputation at nit picking offenses almost to the point of drumming up charges over there.
Now you either pay the fine along side the road or they take your photo ID away...... Out of staters must whip out the cash on the side of the road or go to jail, and they don't have any tolerance for even 1 mph over there, there are no exuses. It's legalized highway robbery.

What happened to the innocent until proven guilty?
A citation is not an automatic guilty, paying it is admitting guilt.
This means that out of staters either pay and admit or sit in jail and wait for court to plead you case.
This is giveing teh PO POP way to much authority. They are not Judge Jury and Executioners.

For the residents... just out of cureiosity. What happens if you get pulled over again before you have paid your first fine, before you have your license back?

This also give the po po's a chance to be a little dirty, and increases teh temptatin for them to be dirty.... If they void the citation after they have collected your money, and pocket your cash......

WI state patrol use to do that, not sure if they still do for out of staters. BUT they would only accept Credit Cards on the spot. If you had to pay in cash or check they would make you follow them to their HQ and pay the office.

Let's say from the ones I know, if there are two cars speeding and on has out of state plates, they know which one to stop. Not to mention the FIB is usually 10 mph faster than other traffic.
