Is it ironic to be assessing a bridge collapse from the vantage point of another adjacent bridge? Wonder if it's footinge got weakened during the collapse?

Duke, I don't think a HUGE bridge is being kept above water by little cars. The bridge would crush them in an instant and push them down into the bed of the river. JMO though.

That and how in the world would 150 cars get underneath the bridge? In the video it fell pretty much straight down, didn't flip or slant. It probably fell out from underneath the cars then the cars fell ontop of it, landing last, and bouncing off the sides, etc. The title wave effect from teh splash would push them off to the sides, probably several hundred feet.

Hey T-B MN where in mn are you. I'm in MN also and would like to see your truck. Don't mean to change subjects. I'm sure the traffic will be a mess around here for awhile. I've lived here 12 yrs and never drove over that bridge. I have been under it with my boat though.

Yeah I didn't do a very good job of getting my thoughts across. I don't think it's just cars holding up the bridge in the water. There is also a lot of the support metal underneath.

Divers yesterday said they are at least 30+ cars under the bridge. There are 30 they can see, others burried in the river bed, and some so far back under the bridge they thought are there but can't really tell.

tomt,

Were you talking to me? I live in Stillwater but am all around the Twin Cities most of the time for work. Let me know where you usually are and maybe we can meet up.

I hear you on the traffic. Turning 280 into a highway now will help, but it's still going to be a disaster for the next two years in terms of trying to get around through Minneapolis, as if our traffic was ever not bad though.

I am in Woodbury. If your not familiar with it, it's a suburb on the east side of St. Paul.

Where are you at?

Yeah, it's going to be horrendous. I just simply can't imagine what it'll be like the first time it snows without that bridge.

Woodbury, I would have thought I'd of seen your truck by now since I live in Stillwater. I drive through Woodbury daily due client travel and running errands.
