New car- GTP

Less than a year later, he had a new car...
No, Touche'

The guy with the green GTP (1996 or 97. I forget), didn't have many mechanical problems, but the electronics were a PITA, according to him. The only reason he said he kept the car was because he was on CCMS (CCCS), and didn't think his credit woudl allow him to get another car. So, he planned to pay it off, then drive it until the wheels fell off.
That was a sweet ride though.
I like the new Gran Prix'... I'm just sad they got rid of the GTO and Bonneville. Pontiac, the former "Excitement" division, has nothign "exciting" in their inventory anymore. The G6 is cool, but I wouldn't call it "Exciting".

Personally I would get a Grand AM/Prix/GTP way before I drug a Taurus home, talk about a time bomb pretending to be a tranny.

I forgot about the Solstice... The Saturn is so much hotter... The Saturn is Beyonce' next to her sister, Solange' Knowles... Both cute, but one is in a different league of "pretty".
Note: The Bonneville isn't exciting, but- it is a nice car; especially with that V8 they offered the last year. I've always liked Bonne's, especially the circa 1997 Bonneville SSEi's, in white,
.The GTO would have sold; it was one helluva performance car, but it was priced too high for what it was. If they MSRP'd between 25 - 28,000 they would have sold like hot cakes. At a 33K MSRP, that's dangerously close to Acura 3.2 TL, 3 series, G35, 350-Z territory. It woudl still hand all the cars I mentioned their **** on a silver platter in straight line performance. But, at the same time- in that price point, the GTO was the 6 ft., 150 lb kid, in the 3rd grade. Stands out, but it's in the wrong class.

Ya gotta get the right tranny...AX4N is better than the more common AX4S. 117,000 with no problems...yet... Maintenance is the key, of course some people just don't understand that...
I went through the Grand Prix experience with my wifes car. (1995 Grand Prix SE w/ the B4U package and 3.1 V-6) Never again. I almost went broke replacing the crap brakes on that thing. Biggest POS i've ever experienced. I would take a Taurus over that crap bag any day of the week. Although it handled like it was on rails and was pretty sweet looking and kinda quick, however, my 24V DOHC Taurus would smoke it for sure. If her G/P had the optional 3.4, it might be a different story.
The fact that my parents have got 170k on the A4LD in their 1994 Explorer doesn't mean it is great transmission either, just that they where lucky, maintained it, and never used to do anything other than move the Explorer around.
Sorry, but nothing aside from the 'Stang or 500/New Taurus has any apeal to me in the Ford camp for cars. Ford makes good trucks, but I wouldn't give you much for anything other than what I mentioned earlier. Just my .02.
