numerous mods, still cant smoke tires....
hey everyone, first post but longtime reader.
I have a 2000 F-150 with the 5.4l and 3.55 gears. It has about 92,000 miles on it.
I just recently put on a true dual 40 series flowmaster exhaust and removed the cats, along with a k&n FIPK, and a hypertech 87 octane tune. We can only get 91 octane here in montana, so i haven't gotten around to trying 93 and listening for detonation. The fuel filter was replaced at around 80,000 miles, and the spark plugs and wires around 60,000.
Problem is, i figured with all the mods, i would be able to finally smoke my tires, but i still cant power brake em.
I'm open for suggestions or anything else people want to throw out there.
also, should i have the fuel injectors serviced? I'm pretty sure thats never been done...

I'm 2000, 5.4 w/ 3.55. with 245/75 tires all stock, and if for some reason I wanted to look like an ameture, I could spin until I decided to let off the gas wit hout touching the brake.
I never understood trying to spin tires.... When mine spins I always feel like an idiot, makes me feel like I dont know how to handel the power I have and maybe need to go down a notch or two until I learn.
First off, rip off that p.o.s Flowmaster....
Youll just end up spending more money on tires, trust me. I like burnouts...tires hate me. My truck has 12,000 miles and the back tires are darn near shot
As PSS said though, what size/type of tires do you have? Makes a big difference.

Let's see; two kids in college, a mortgage, assorted other bills. Hum, I would prefer that my tires, my engine, and other parts of my truck last a long, long time. Tire burnouts do not impress me. Sorry.
What does impress me:
a. If you can run a 4.4 40
b If you can throw a baseball accurately 95 MPH
c. Kick a football through the uprights from 45 yards out.
d. Get a perfect score on any portion of the ACT or get a 5 on an AP exam
e. Land an F-18 on an aircraft carrier in the dark in a storm (alright, just landing one would do it...)

Try the stock tire size, 235/70.
Mine had 235/75 when I bought it and was like driving on marbles. Taking off was a delicate ballet to try and keep from spinning, and forget it if it was raining, you couldn't take off with out spinning on wet pavement.......
I could punch it on dry pavement at 55 mph and it would get sideways. Very scary!!!!!

Thats crazy you can't power brake them. I could power brake my 37s with stock gears. Now that I have 4.88s. . WOW!
Damn man, thats some good input to this thread. I'm glad you felt the need to post.

Just a little sarcasm, man---I work too hard for what I have--if you want to wear your toys out---go for it. To each, their own. I just simply stated that I am not at all impressed by such actions...
