Man, you'd have thought that most of Dallas had blown up based on the way CNN.com was frist reporting it. Now that I see the pix (and just saw the aftermath on CNN tv) it's a big "MEH". A lit Chuck Norris fart has a larger explosive field than that.

(I'm thinking I'm gonig to work Chuck Norris into every post I do today . . . I'm bored sitting herewatching TV . . . pain meds about to kick in . . . cool).

Yep, I just found out about it...

Dallas is VAST. That spot is a solid 20-25 miles south of me.

We didn't even hear the boom.

I had no idea where this was or what this meant. So I looked it up on Google Maps. Found it.

I then wondered where President Kennedy was shot in relation to this. So, being bored, and on drugs, I decided to switch to satellitte mode and see if I could find Dealey Plaza by sight. So I'm scrolling around trying to find it, and then wound back where I started, and sure enough, it's right up the street from the intersection of the 30 and 35. Looks pretty much the same as pix from the 60s showed it to be. Hope they don't ever "develop" that area.

Damn, the Dallas Convention Center is big.

They won't... Dealy Plaza is a tourist area, as is the 6th floor library.
We did a stage coach tour of that area- and (I know this is getting off track) I'm impressed at how powerful one horsepower is. That one horse, pulled 6 of us, plus the driver, not to mention the coach itself. What's even more remarkable, the horse stopped itself at redlights, and would "go" when the light turned green...

So much for the BS about animals can't see colors.

What they were doing when JFK was killed:

I want to go there (Dealey Plaza). I remember those days (although reflections of childhood are in that other thread) sad, sad, sad.

and to think that horse wasn't $3.30 per gallon! Not to mention I bet he gets better mileage.

After the move to Lost Angeles, my dad was a field reporter and was at the Ambassador Hotel the night Bobby was killed.

Bad times. So many "I remember where I was events" in the 60s.
