MySpace is one of the Internet's greatest beaver traps. God bless you, oh all mighty Internet.

Downside: Myspace is now filled up with dudes. Good beaver is getting harder to find. *sigh*

You gotta be careful of the poon you add to your page. Then again, they are all nuts so meh... whatever... just create a new profile and let the new beaver hunt begin!!!

I do know those situations exist, my post wasnt saying this is the case with every parent, just that it is a common occurance now-a-days

Now I'm not exactly sure how old you are, but my guess is that you are considerably older (that's not meant as an insult) than the average 12 year old girl that sex offenders target. You took all the right measures to avoid such people. My point is that it should be up to the parents to make sure their kids take these measures also.

The main reason people (in theory) join Myspace is to keep in touch with friends. Yeah, you made it hard for people to find you, but that completely contradicts the reason people sign up to begin with. If everybody did what you did, it would be very, very difficult just to find a friend. The average 17 year old isn't worried about sexual predators, they just want to talk to their friends.

no offense, but your comments on this subject to me are irrelavent. when i was 17 i thought i knew all there was to know, which from your comments i would say you do as well. anyway, kids are just that... kids. they learn from being taught. as they get older the use what they have learned to make decisions, be it good or bad and then learn from the outcome of those decisions. so... saying kids are beyond help, makes no sense. and im not trying to offend you but it just seems like you dont have any idea what you are talking about. however you are entitled to your opinion. i respect that but strongly disagree.

Wait. . I think when you register and you put your age. If you're under 16 than to be added by other people, they must know your last name before you even get the friend request. At least myspace.com is taking some measures.
