Just bought a Puppy!
I grew up around labs, all of them were black except 1 was a yellow. I now have a great 7 month old Lab/Wiemer mix named KC. She is very laid back, and actually right now she sleeping right next to my feet. We keep her in the house at night, she sleeps either on her dog bed in the bedroom or right at the base of the bed on my side. We have been letting her sleep in the bedroom for about 1.5 months now, before that we kept her in a large dog crate. During the day when no one is at home I put her in her 6'X12' outside kennel, but if bad weather is coming or it is going to be over 85 deg I then put her in her crate.
She doesn't like to swim very much, but she just loves the snow or atleast she did when she was 3 months old.
This is the first dog that I have had in almost 6 years, and now I wonder how I ever got along without one!!

We have a chocolate lab and her name is Chelsea. We bought her from Coppertone Lab breeders so her name is Coppertone Chelsea. She will be 11 in a month and she is still pretty spunky. She is a British Lab and is about 65 lbs. British Labs have a blockier head and a shorter thicker "otter" tail.

We have three labs and a lab/golden mix. I agree train them firmly but gently early---and labs are chewers---for at least two years they will chew and chew and chew. A busy dog is a happy dog---and a happy owner; when they get bored, they will go on "chew and destroy missions." But they are awesome dogs.

I have a black lab, Winston, who is 6ish years old now (Ive lost track lol)
When he was a pup he would take off with ANYTHING and chew the heck out of it. Still chews on things, he is getting better now though.
All the corners on the deck are chewed off, all the doors are scratched (he's a little wimp so when he gets scared he paws at the door), the lawn will never recover from the holes he's dug, etc. Hes an entertaining dog though.
He's either bouncing off the walls or to lazy to even move out of my way, no inbetween.
They are he!! when they are pups, but sure are fun.

We named our chocolate lab "Chewie" His bark is kind of strange as he opens and closes his mouth mid-bark, and sounds like Chewbacca on Star Wars. He is terrified of storms or loud noises, and can pick on a storm several miles away. He is alot of fun and very smart in a equally not so smart way.
Wow Ref, your dogs are awesome! Jeb is adorable, I love stocky, square faced labs like that.
I have a 5 year old male black lab that I love to death. He's a total lover, and loves LOVES LOVES to swim and retrieve. He looks a lot like jeb...here's a few pics

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned "Hershy" as a name yet.
Anyway here is Fletch. He is 4 years old now, and still kinda puppy-like. Labs do take forever to grow out of their "puppy stage".
