06 Screw vs Duramax

Was on my way to work this morning and a chevy crew cab pulled up next to me at the light. We had a highway on ramp about 60 yards ahead of us for my lane only. I didn't really pay much attention to him until the light turned green and he gunned it, I tried to mash the gas down and managed to stay dead even with him through 1st gear but after that he managed to get ahead of me enough to jump into my lane at the last second. Had I known what was next to me I wouldn't have even bothered. I checked the specs on his truck just now.

Allison six-speed automatic transmission:

* 365 horsepower @ 3000 rpm
* 660 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1600 rpm

Let me go tell that to a guy here who used to own a D-max. It made the 6.0 look reliable. Then there's another guy here who has a D-max. He only keeps it cause he didn't pay for it. It hardly ever leaves his driveway.

Really? We've got a fleet of brand new 2500 HDs. Reg cab 6.0 2wds with 4.30ish gears. They're nothing to write home about, I wasn't impressed by them. I was expecting more.

6.2 to 60?!

I'd love to see something that big, get up & run like that...

That'd smoke most passenger cars. (Which most trucks won't).

A stock '07 can run 0-60 in 5.6s... ur buddy got tuning issues, or afraid of the Go-pedal?!

Regardless, you should be pretty happy that you kept up.

I'll still take a 08 SuperDuty 6.4L over the Duramax.
