Smoking Is Good For Something?

The data showed that current smokers and those who had continued to smoke within five years of Parkinson's disease diagnosis had the lowest risk. People who quit smoking up to 25 years before diagnosis also had a reduced risk. Other tobacco products such as cigars, pipe tobacco and chewing tobacco showed reduced risk as well.

Anyone that honestly believes that crap needs to be slapped!

I concluded this morning that after eating a bowl of Corn Flakes I am infact allergic to breakfast food. I sneezed.

I am allergic to breakfast. It's proven.

I had to look it up to make sure and I was confused. Ulcerative Colitis is what I was thinking of.

The cause of ulcerative colitis is not known for certain, but heredity and an overactive immune response in the intestine seem to be contributing factors. Cigarette smoking, which is detrimental in Crohn's disease, seems to decrease the risk of ulcerative colitis. However, smoking in order to reduce the risk of ulcerative colitis is ill-advised in light of the many health problems that smoking can cause.

Could it be because so many smokers died before they had an opportunity to get Parkinsons?

That was my initial thought, too. The risk differences fell off after age 75; so, you're in the clear now anyway.

NEWS FLASH

BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP

This just in, humans die....

BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP

Mindless puppets on a string, so desperate to achive that ever elusive fountian of youth and preserve your own mortality a few minutes longer. Willing to fall for any suggestion that "experts" or more appropriate basement scientist wanting a full time job and grant money for further studies feed teh media to feed you in order to further thier carreer.

Want to know how to live longer??
It's super simple.... Life is a verb, so just do it, go be active!
An hour a day in the gym is not suffecient!
Lowering your cholesertol, BP etc with a change in diet is not suffecient. You are only putting a band aid on a severe injury. You can cover it up and hide it for a little while but eventually your body shows it, unfortunatly for you, it's to late, because when the band aid comes off, then you are dead.

Smoked pipe tobacco for 30 years--4 hours a night--every night. Ten years ago, I dropped the pipes and started smoking premium cigars. I just turned 68, take no Rx drugs--none. I walk 2-3 miles a day while smoking one of the two Punch Double Coronas(7" of pure tobacco with a ring gauge of '49') I smoke each day. I also chew Lancaster's string tobacco while Bass fishing and that's 4-6 days a week.

IMO, the 'bad' part of cigarettes is the paper....
