First performance upgrades

Hi everyone! I'm a new member and this is my first post. I've recently bought a new 2007 f150 (ext. cab)w/ the 4.6 engine. My truck has the 3:55 rear. Anyhow I find it a bit sluggish and want more (but not a hotrod truck) My thoughts are the following: 3" catback system;performance chip; and finally a FIPK intake system. Would these be the first best things to get power? My engine has 248hp and I'd like close to 300. Am I going the right way? I don't have much available funds and am looking for" bang for the buck". Thanks for reading and in advance for your help! Take care guys! Larry

275 HP is a more realistic number with those mods.... But they are the best to start out with. For exhaust, go with whatever you think sounds best. For the intakes, get a quality intake, as in no cheapo Ebay crap. And for a tuner, either an Edge Evolution or an XCalII tuned by Mike Troyer. All of those mods should eat up $1000 rather nicely.

Magnaflow muffler (stick with 2.5" pipe for duals, 3" is ok for single), a good tuner as Z mentioned will do wonders.

yes welcome

Id start with Efans, then go tuner, then intake/exaust. As far as bang for the buck, the efan is the best gain ive seen. Ive picked up almost 1.5 mpg in the city and 1 mpg highway, so it pays for itself rather quickly

Patman, about the e-fans.. that's something I've been considering.

What's the cost, ballpark?

How involved is the install? Is it something I can do myself? Not an expert when it comes to messing with the electrical system.

120-150 if you do it all yourself
300-400 if you buy a complete kit and put it in yourself
as much as 500 if you buy a complete kit and pay a mechanic to install it

The wiring is a breeze, i can walk you through it all, the hardest part is getting the stock fan clutch loose
