Computer...wtf...

Ok, so my computer used to do this ever once in awhile, and lately its been doing it quite a bit, and right now it does it like ever 10 seconds.

My whole screen is bouncing up and down. Its not just the window that Im viewing, its the desktop, taskbar...everything. Its like it bounces up 1/4 of an inch about 8 times in a row, then pauses for a little bit, then does it again. When its doing the bouncing thing I get a little bit of 'fuzz'. Kind of like when a tv station isnt coming it real well, but its not bad enough that I cant see what Im doing.

This is driving me friggin insane....and ideas :o

Thanks.

A simple test is to hook up another Monitor. If it still does it the video card is bad. If it does not do it any more your Monitor was bad... Good luck.

Maybe this is too simple and/or obvious, but how about a bad monitor? Borrow someone else's and plug it in to your CPU. If nothing else it's a quick way to rule out that issue.

I have seen the computer at work do this when you put a cell phone too close to it when it is about to receive a call. Also when a radio is put too close to it.

LMAO, about 5 minutes ago I noticed my phone sitting right under the monitor...moved it away and turned it off and it hasnt done it since.

Im not sure If my cell phone was by the monitor when it did the jumping other times or not. I have it turned on laying on my belly right now and the screen just budged a little.

Hopefully that was my problem

I would hope it isnt the monitor. Its a fairly new one...

I've had a fan sitting on my desk and have teh power cord to close to the video cable and mess teh monitor up too.

Before I replaced monitor or video card and all, I would just check the video cable..... but thats just me I start wit hthe cheapest thing possiable. It's never that for me its always the most expensive thing but I always start with hopes of it being cheap.

If this is an old style CRT, some of them have a menu option to degauss the screen. Might want to take a look.
