Not true. I live in Kentucky, only about 15 miles from a refinery, and our gas jumped $.35 on tuesday..........

So you would cease to beable to breath if you didnt have it????

I drive between 100-400 miles per day, granted I am reimbursed for most of it but not all. If it gets so high that I can't afford teh job, then I will quit and do something more profitable.....

England's minimum wage $10.87/hour (5.35 GBP/hour)
England's gas price $8.00/gallon (3.93 GBP/gallon)

US minimum wage $5.15/hour (2.53 GBP/hour)

Not to mention the fact that Europeans are taxed out the ***, in order to pay for their social programs. Europe pays the exact same for the gas as we do before taxes. It's their BS governmental programs that bloat their $/gallon.

I know wha tyou were saying, I was trying to point out that lifestyle is not a need, it is a want.
Is that the only way to make money?

Like any business if over head exceeds income, you are out of business, time to find something else or a way to lower the over head or raise you prices to match. Overhead rises for many reasons, happens every day and what was once profitable becomes a money pit literally over night.

Nope. The federal minimum wage has remained the same 5.15/hour since Sept. 1, 1997

Congress did vote to increase minimum wage to 7.25/hour through incremental increases by the end of the summer 2009.

BTW England's minimum wage will increase in October to $11.22/hour

I hate gas prices this high, however, I drive a vehicle that gets 15 mpg. By doing so I have forfeited the righ to bitch and moan. And oil workers have been kidnapped, shot at, and run off of land based rigs, as well as kidnapped off of crude shipping vessels all over the Niger area. Check the news.

The takehome % there is FAR less than in the USA. Income tax in some Northern Euro countries is between 40 and 60%

It's just the numbers changing. That's what we're doing here. We raise the "living" wage, but then the price of everything goes up.

People in this country don't seem to get it. We want our employers to pay us more, and give us health care, yet don't realize that if they give us what we want, they are going to pass the expense on to the consumer. We are the consumer. We think corporations should pay for everything, and when we think we've stuck it to them by getting our government to get money out of them, we tend to forget that we are consumers, and the cost will be passed on to us.

Don't like the price? Don't buy it.

It's just a bunch of numbers. They are getting larger, but they are just numbers.

Everytime the minimum wage increases people will be better off for a very short period of time. After a while though the extra money and increased demands and costs to employers will cause inflation. In the end everyone is right back where they were and usually worse off for a while till the economy settles.

The only way for it to settle in this day and time would be a world wide deperession. I dont see that hapening anytime soon. I can see America crumbeling under it's own weight in the not so distant future. Our current structure nor foundation can not stand much more.

The Chinese started setting us up to fall up on ourselfs almost 200 years ago, they have waited idely by for it to happen. The yare not teh worlds oldest nation because they are stupid. They plan 1000's of years in advance, We are lucky to look past today, 20 years is the far future for us. I have not figured out thier angle yet but I suspision they will be ready to take us over when the time is right.

Economies tend to follow a boom then bust cycle. The Chinese are eventually gonna grow too much and collaspe as well, probably India too.

The North American economies are gonna undergo massive changes, think outsourcing and the slow death of trade unions. Its really similar to what happened in acient times when people first started to specialize in certain areas and get others to do what they werent good at. Now at a global level, and it has nothing to do with who is best but with who is cheaper.

Eventually with all the outsourcing in NA and the new influx of jobs and money in once tiny economies the world is heading for another depression fueled by unemployment in some areas and inflation in others. The great depression was very similar, massive unemployment in North America and uncontrollable inflation in Europe.
