Titan....

I rarely see them so I believe the numbers. The fact that they are ****ugly probably doesn't help.

I'm sure that Toyota is excited about their huge jump in the YTD figures. I know it is because of the new body style, but still impressive.

Not to mention how well Ford is doing with a dated design. The Silverado was on the verge of overtaking the F-150 a couple months back, but its sales seemed to have somewhat stalled lately.
This is an example of how the huge sales increased by the Tundra arent as big of a deal as the Toyota faithfull would lead you to believe. Its easy to have a 115% gain when you only sell 8,000 units a month, whereas F-150s and Silverados outsell Tundras almost 10 to 1.

They still have a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOONG way to go before they even begin to challenge Ford and GM in the fullsize truck market.
I personally think the Tundra will be a really hard sell to farmers, ranchers, construction workers and contractors. A lot of those people still care about buying something that is American and no matter how much Toyota plays up the, "Mom, Dad and apple pie" bit and the, "Hey, we are American too!" ad campaign, a lot of people would never buy a Toyota no matter how great it is.

Thats my story. If the american worker builds it and it puts profit back into the rough U.S. economy I will buy it. IMO Ford makes a great product, we are lucky we can support our country and a company that has helped build our country and not have to settle on quality or performance. Ford, Chevy and Dodge have put food on millions of tables in America for quite some time now. It really sickens me how quick we as a buying public will turn such a blind eye to such a relationship.

No matter how much Toileta will go on how theyre so american their trucks are built here theyre givin jobs here, it wont matter because the big $$ theyre makin aint coming here.

And i really think a huge majority of the people buying the new tundras are just following the fad. "Oo big HP numbers that i have no clue what they mean, theyre new! i must have!"

but then again its jsut really the pickup cycle, everyone will be buying ford in 2009..

That is it in a nutshell. They make plants here to cut import cost then play it off as giving the American public a piece of the pie.

Dont get me wrong, I think its great that Toyota is building some of their vehicles and providing Americans with a job, but they are not now nor will they probably ever be American.
Its important to support American automakers not just for the people who work directly for those automakers, but for the people who work for the companies who supply those parts to the domestic automakers. Toyota may assemble some of their vehicles here, but the VAST majority of those components are still made outside of the United States.
Im really not a fan of GM, but I think that is Ford ever went bankrupt I would go with a Chevy or GMC truck before I went with a Toyota or Nissan.
I could never take pride in driving an import and helping to put food on someone's table who lives halfway around the world. At least with a Ford, GM or Chrysler product you are investing in America. Obviously to some people thats not important anymore, but its something that still matters to me.

The Titan is a great truck (looks aside). Wait until '09 when they re-design it. I can't wait to see what it looks like.

Even better is the F-150, I cant WAIT for its re-design either. '09 is going to be an exciting year!

We had a Tundra at our dealership for some training and, eh... not too much shock and awe there. It's not everything it's cut out to be, IMO.

Great truck??? Why? What makes it "great"? Just curious what you mean.

I could care less what the 2009 titan looks like. It's still a Nissan.
