I hear that crap all the time, but- I have yet for anyone to show proof, or even a good possibility that Consumer Reports has a bias in any way.

But, a good place to get what I think are somewhat useful opinions, is to go to Epinions.com. There you can hear from actual owners. But, it is the internet, so I can rate my Lexus LS460, even though I don't have one. So, take it (Epinions) with a grain of salt...

For starters, I compared the review of my ex GF's 2005 Acura RSX against my 2006 Ford Focus SE. I have driven her car A LOT, and obviously my own as well.

CS placed her car as better for mileage, braking, and value. My car consistently achieves 6~+ MPG better mileage than hers...and I drive WAY more city than her. She lives in a rural town that requires massive daily freeway commute...which should help her in mileage.

Braking? Her car sucks at braking...I could murder her car in braking...yet hers was rated WAY higher there.

Her car rode like absolute crap...roughest riding car I've ever been in- so you would think it would handle exceptionally well, right? Not really...I would put it on par with my focus which is 10x smoother riding.

Value? Her car was like $24,000~...mine was $13,300 OTD... hers gets a better value rating by a ton. Makes sense, considering my car: rides better, is smoother, gets better mileage, and cost 40%~ less.

You're right though, no bias at all...

The Edge got its style from a Murano. Here's my wife's 2007 SL:

Very impressive vehicle, especially its CVT(Continuously Variable Trans) which does not have any gears, just rollers and steel belts .

I've been considering replacing the Expedition with an Edge. I guess I'm not alone.

One major problem is that these truck based SUVs aren't worth crap now. Trade in is very low. I owe on mine. It might be a while before I can make a change without losing money.

I've been looking at what the dealerships have for Edges. Mostly the up level AWD models. I don't want or need AWD. It a heavy system and tons of people get around fine in the snow with two wheel drive. A FWD Edge with basic options, which is all I need, is around twenty six. I think that pretty damn good for that type of vehicle.
