Average? 44mpg is good, not great. My mom has an '06 that gets under 44mpg, average. I guess if she drove it on the highway more she'de get better fuel economy, but the driving she does is mostly around town. Maybe they could build more highways so these gas/electric hybrids could get better fuel economy.

At 100 mph, what kind of fuel economy do you think a Prius gets. It can't be all that green, Gore III!

You people realize that the planet still has a fever, and now poor rich kids are victims of societies ills. Poor rich kid .

Has anyone here ever heard of a double standard? Well, just keep an eye on what happends to Gore III. It will be a gleaming example.

It was my understanding the a hybric gets better mileage in the city where it can use the drivetrain mounted generators during braking to recharge the battery so it is available during cruising and acceleration. On the open road with little to no braking the batterys do not charge so it is forced to rely on the gas motor thereby using more fuel.

Just checked and yup, better city fuel mileage http://www.toyota.com/prius/specs.html

Oh yes. I forgot.

Well, I guess my mom must drive like Gore III. I haven't been a passenger in her vehicle for many years, but I've been under the impression that she drives like a grandma (which is fitting).

So, I guess that the Prius doesn't live up to it's mpg claims?

Yea I seem to recall that most hybrids were not living up to the MPG claims. They had to change the way they figured the MPG numbers and as a result lost, in some cases, 20% of what they were claiming before the rules changed

You have to give Algore credit on that one. He saved the planet from Manbearpig. If he hadn't flooded that cave Manbearpig may have kille us all.

It was just on last night. I didn't catch the whole thing, but what I saw was funny.
