Well it's about damn time:
The 2008 Toyota Landcruiser finally receives a makeover, caught in those pics completely camo free. I'll go with the opinion of, "It's at least a change."


It's basically getting the same toyota looks as the rest of their current line of vehicles.
Going the other way, it's twin the Lexus LX570 also got a makeover and wins the looks category between the 2.


Wonder how much that one will start at =|.

Yeah, I've wanted a Land Cruiser since I first saw one- the old body style (circa 1997), with wide tires, and 16" chrome rims on it... It looked tough, yet sophisticated and luxurious.
They have never been in my price range. Still aren't.
The last LandCruiser I priced (2003) was about $57,000.00 at Toyota of Plano. It's stablemate- the Lexus LX470 was an astonishing $70,000.00. That's expensive in my book...
Little did I know (until later that week) that freaking Navigators and Yukon Denali's were playing in the same (and higher now) price point.

I hear ya about the loaded prices. These landcruisers havent changed since 1998 really if you look up each year model. And they start at $50,000+. Im sure these will be more and i dont even want to know the starting price or well equipped price of the Lexus
I'm totally digging it. Like you guys, I've always liked them and have thought of them to be durable yet luxurious. A buddy of mine's dad had one (golf course manager for a 'nice' country club here in Louisville) had one with like 325K on the ticker and he'd only changed the oil and a few other here and there things on it with nearly NO problems. Hard to argue with that type of quality from a vehicle that size with so many systems and such...
It will likely be out of my price range but, it's certainly one that I'd consider if it were within it and I were shopping.

The Most Overpriced POS!
Those things are the most OVERPRICED POS on the road with 4 wheels! I can think of oh so many better choices in that price range than that POS.........

No kidding. For the $50,000 that a LC costs you could get one heck of a nice Tahoe, Yukon or Expedition and still have money left over for mods.

Looks like zero offroad capability and a huge pricetag. With the steps from american auto makers to have much nicer interiors and a more reliable product I cant think of a single reason to buy such a overpriced SUV.
And is it just me or doesnt it look alot like the current 4 runner that is much much cheaper

Landcruisers come, pretty much loaded. For about $55,000. You get a similiarly equipped Expy Limited or Tahoe and your MSRP will be rubbing the color off of $50,000.00. (Expy MSRP for a Loaded Limited = $51,000). Loaded Tahoe LTZ was about $49,000.
Here's the rub: 4 years from now, when you want to trade it. The Expy will be worth about $13,500 - $15,500, same for the Tahoe. But, that LandCruiser will still be worth $25,000 - $27,000. Giving you about $14 - 16,000 in equity towards your next purchase. as opposed to $4,500 - $6,500 (if that) for the Tahoe/Expy.

If you go to the lot, and buy one of each today, 4-years from now- that Land Cruiser will trade (sell) for more than 50% of what it costs new- which will net you $15,000 - $19,000 in POSITIVE equity. Doing the math, allowing for 2.9% APR, and 10% down with payments of $939/month= your payoff will be about $11,269 from an MSRP of $55,000.
With the Expedition, with an MSRP of $51,000, allowing for 2.9% APR, and 10% down with payments of $872/month= your payoff will be about $10,466 at the 48 month mark- giving you $2,000 - $4,000 in positive equity for the Expedition. It's a lot easier for the dealer to erase your equity when it's that low, by saying some BS like- (Well, because of the family plan discounts, your trade isn't as high as it would normally be).
While the same is true for the Cruiser, it's a lot harder to get weaseled out of damn-near $20,000 in positive equity- unless the owner didn't do his or her homework...
I chose the Expy because it holds it's value better than the Tahoe. So, you can look at the LandCruiser as an investment- much more than you can a Tahoe/Expedition, etc...
Even with the deep discounts some can get on an Expy off the MSRP (which lowers your monthly payment, and widens the gap between your payoff- and what it will trade for *leaving you upside down**) at the end of the day- that Cruiser can take a big chunk out of your next new car purchase... Imagine putting $19,000 down on your new 2008 F-250 CrewCab? Leaving you to finance $30,000 rather than $48,000 from trading your Expy.
I can't afford the Cruiser- but I take comfort in knowing that when my lease is up, Toyota's new Sequoia should be on dealer lots, with that 381HP 5.7L...
That is (for now) in my price range...
I love Expeditions- I've owned two. But, if we're talking dollars & sense, along with historical reliability. It gets pretty dogone tough to beat a LandCruiser.
Zero off-road capability? Dude- The LandCruisers and Range Rovers (although I'd never take them off road) have legendary off-road capability. In fact, stock-for-stock, I'd bet only the Jeep Wrangler or H2 Hummer in 4 x 4 form, would have equal prowess off road.

But, who (in their right mind) would spend $56K on a new truck, to off road the SOB? Maybe millionaires can blow loot like that, but for us average Joe's- who among us woudl be that stupid? It's a Land Cruiser. That's where mine would be cruising... Flat, paved, land. Highways, parking lots, and driveways.
Rock Crawling? That's what they make used Ford Broncos and Chevy Blazers for.

They even changed the designation on the LX470 to the LX570. As with European cars, the numerical designation lets you know (or get pretty close to) the engine displacement.
745- 4.4L V8
760- 6.0L V-12
S550- 5.5L V8
So, with the Lexus, the LS460 is a 4.6L V8 with 380 HP, and the new Lex will have a version of the Tundra's 5.7L v8.
i am looking at denalis XL right know. the one i want is stickered at $56995. loaded. gps, dvd, 20" chrome rims, 403 hp,
the problem i have with the toyota is the size, it is more the size of an explorer rather than expedition or suburban.
for me I plan to buy the denali at 0% for 3 years and drive it a total of 6 to 7 years. to say resale dosent matter would be stupid, but if i get (like i usually do) 6 to 7 good years out of it, come trade it time i dont expect much.
i currently have an 01 suburban that i paid $35k for, have had it close to seven years and I think I will get 9 k trade in.
