You did very well - you protected yourself and definitely got your very valid point across.

Should Harley have given him a cookie? The guy was already breaking the law on multiple accounts and was carrying a weapon unlawfully.

Since he also could not produce proof of insurance and I had confiscated the license tag, I advised him to have his vehicle towed. He stated, "man I am going to miss my CWP class again". So, being I know he needed a handgun for the class, I asked him where it was. He pointed down and said I'm wearing it. Must of thought it would sound cool. His eye's about popped out of his head when I drew my Glock and pointed it at his head. He had just committed a felony by wearing a concealed weapon with no permit.....
After I got him out, did all my normal felony stop stuff, I explained to him his mistake and let him go.
So, the lesson to learn here, don't wear your gun to class, only after you have successfully passed the class and got your permit!
Actually, the weapon has to be on their person or concealed within reach to HAVE to show a permit.
If I don't have the weapon on my person, I don't have to show the permit. Even if it's in my glove box or center console fully loaded and a round chambered.

But I do agree with you on the no permit, dont carry on your person, even in a vehicle.

Different States, different laws. Some states require you to keep the firearm locked in the trunk, unloaded and the bullets away from the firearms. And my state I can keep it in my glovebox or center console fully loaded.

More info, goto www.packing.org
This is most up to date gun laws and such for each state.

Good Post. Glad GA is a co-carry state with TX.

In my neighborhood, around my house, ALL the neighbors have CHL's.

We all look after each other.

Very well said Quintin!

Even for those who choose not to carry most everything is based on situational awareness. Everyone would be much safer if they'd simply pay attention to what's going on around them.

CWP and Sears

I was spending my cash in Sears a few weekends back and noticed an older gentlemen shopping in the tool section with a 1911 tucked in his waistband. I found this odd because his shirt was tucked in and the grip was completely exposed. He made no effort to conceal his firearm. I guess he forgot the part about concealing his firearm.

that is a terrible location to carry if you ask me. Very uncomfortable and really obvious unless you have a small HG

May have been a cop or retired cop. Some states it's also legal for retired LEO to carry openly.

Crazed, that is correct (at least in SC). There is no carry open unless you are in LE and working OR going fishing/hunting. Concealed requires permit. CWP restricted by any business posting sign to prohibit guns in stores. LE can carry anywhere, country wide with photo ID from department.
Notice the fishing/hunting exclusion above. You can carry open anywhere you want as long as you are a licensed hunter / fisherman and are coming or going to related activities...
This place makes no sense.....

Why not let your kids know about your collection. Start teaching them gun safety now. My kids are 7 and 4 and they both know I have guns and i'm sure they have seen me carry them. They also both know not to touch them when I am not around. They are locked in the safe except for carry pistol which is always out of there reach.

Thats exactly the right attitude to have the only way kids should learn about guns. Learning about guns by watching movies or playing playstation will only show them an unrealistic world where if you screw up you hit a reset button.
