Ipod repair
Ipod repair
I know this is a truck fourm, but hopefully theres someone out there that knows a little about Ipods. My ipod shows a sad face and I am unable to restore it. My computer doesnt recongnize it and I have tried everything on the apple support page. So it looks like its needs to be repaired. Apple wants $250 to repair it which is crazy, i can buy a new one for that. I know theres other companies out there that do repairs but have no clue who to go with.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? What did you do about it? Has anyone gone with an outside company for repair?

A really good website for Ipod related stuff is www.ilounge.com Kind of like this forum.
Lots of good info there. Best of luck

I would check out http://www.ifixit.com They should be able to help you out.

Too funny Thump! I have had both players and I can honestly say the iPod out preforms the Zune on nearly every level. The one thing the iPod could maybe get is the radio but other than that there's no gay **** 3x3 DRM encoding, the sound quality and video resolution truly is better and my iPod has frozen up waaaaaaaay less than my Zune ever did. However this is not an iPod vs. Zune debate...$250 is alot of money for repair. I haven't had the problem you're experiencing yet but if you check the apple forums and still can't find advice I would definitely take it to an outside company. These players aren't the most complex devices so any reputable electronics repair store should be able to repair it.
I say go with the zune.
Ive replaced mine twice now.
Had a black one replaced it with a black one due to battery then replaced it again for a while one due to the fact it wasnt the battery it was the sync cable.
but im still very impressed.
never has the thing actually froze on me.
only once or twice itll lock up for a sec when im connecting it to my pc.

Could be a dead hard drive. They're replacable, but it's a PITA to do.
If you end up buying a new one, look into the Creative Zen Vision: M. I've had one for a little over a year now and it's great.
