Moving, Virginia here I come!
Greetings all,
Well, after nearly a year and a half of researching, traveling, and interviewing, my wife and I have found a place to call home.
Roanoke, Virginina got the call!
My wife finished her residency in Emergency Medicine this month and will be working for a small community hospital as an ER attending just south of Roanoke.
I have gladly accepted a position as a Firefighter/Paramedic for the City of Roanoke Fire Department and couldnt be happier.
We are officially moving down this wednesday, to a small apartment for now. Once we get settled and learn the area better we plan on buying a home within a year or so, no rush....
I have lived in Pittsburgh all my life and have found it VERY difficult to make the decision to move, but am very excited of what lies ahead.
So, fellow Roanoke-ians, speak up! Let me know where the fun is at....
Also, check the Virginia forum as I am in need of some advice in the south western area if you are from there....
Oh, and here are a few pics of my new "office"....

Reckless Driving - Civil penalty $1,050.00 + the
court cost & fines
DUI - 1st offence - Civil penalty $2,250.00 + the
court cost & fines
Failure to give proper signal - Civil penalty
$1,050.00 + the court cost & fines
Leaving the scene of an accident -
Civil penalty $3,000.00 + the court cost & fines
Out of state drive throughs exempt

I've only driven through Roanoke, so I don't know anything about it. Virginia seems real nice though.
Congrats on having the courage to leave a place you've been all of your life. I'm trying to find that courage myself. At least you're not too far from home.
