thats a good way of saving the battery.
I have one on my mustang because the rules require it.

Summit has a bunch

At work, all equipment comes with them and uses a key for the switch lever.

EDIT: get a waterproof switch.

Marine battery switches:

Easyfit Battery Switch; Installation only requires the drilling of a 7/8" mounting hole.

Mini Battery Switch

Battery On/off Switch
With key. Prevents unauthorized use. Eliminates battery discharges prominent on newer engines. …

If it was me I'd probably get the last one, maybe the first one for price saving if I was on a budget. Both are small and inconspicuous.

Well, if it takes a month or two to drain the battery, you don't have to disconnect it after every use.

I would say if you know you are not going to ride it for 2 weeks or more, disconnect the battery. Then reconnect it just before the next use. Otherwise just leave it as is.

Save the money you would spend on the fancy switch for your next battery. You will need one someday whether you have the switch or not.

Battery Master Switch. This small, keyed battery switch helps protect your battery and your personal watercraft from unwanted use. This seawater-proof switch can be mounted inside or outside the engine compartment and connected to the positive or negative cable. The key can only be removed in the "off" position. Base: 2-1/4" dia.; neck: 7/8" dia. Max. load: 1000 amps. 12V.

What kinda of jet ski do you have. I'm guessing its a Sea Doo GTX
