How cold is your deep freezer?

What is the ideal temperature for an upright deep freezer.

I shut mine down when we lost power for 12 days in Jan/Feb and ruint everything. We had been buying week to week but now do to time, we are going to start restocking. So I turned the deep freeze on yesterday it's now down to, -18ºc -12ºc (0ºF-10ºF) depending up on which surface I take a reading from using an IR thermometer. But it's already begining to frost. The air was probably very humid inside so the heating element may not have kicked on yet.

But anyway... is -18ºc -12ºc (0ºF-10ºF) surface temps to cold or to hot for effecient deep freeze?

0ºF to -4ºF is about perfect for anything you are going to freeze.

Direct from the FDA.

The first rule of food storage in the home is to refrigerate or freeze perishables right away. The refrigerator temperature should be 40 degrees Fahrenheit (5 degrees Celsius), and the freezer should be zero F (minus 18 C). Check both "fridge" and freezer periodically with a refrigerator/freezer thermometer.

Wife is on her way home with some fresh meat now.

if it needs a small adjustment, jamzwayne can work wonders with refridgerators and freezer. But it might come back with a few scratches

LOL

This one is really old, about all it would do is scratch the pavement.
