It's hard to find left hand retreive, but they're out there. That's all I use. No switching hands after casting like with a right hand retrieve.

I dont have any experince with either of those, but before I even looked at the prices I was leaning towards the quantum, after seeing the prices, the Browning would have to get 100% rate of aproval and rave reviews from from everyone before I'd even consider spending an extra $40.

depends on what type of fishing you plan to do with it.......the Browning(s) with the 6.4:1 & 7.1:1 would be great for spinnerbaits, crank baits, lipless crankbaits and other fast retrieval baits. Also with the advertised line retrieval, they'd work great for flipping/pitching/jigging/etc - as they'd pull a fish outta cover faster to reduce the possibilities of the fish wrapping itself in cover and breaking off. BUT, without a flipping switch, personally I would choose the Quantum 6.2:1 just because of the flipping switch as I tend to use more plastics in a flipping/pitching/jigging situation and the gear ratio isn't too far off from the Browning so wire baits, crankbaits, etc. would work great too.

If I had to choose I would go with the Quantum and not just because of the price. I've had several Quantums in the past and the only one that's given me trouble is the last one I bought which is an IR300C. The levelwind gear is sticking a little but I think I just didn't put it all back together right the last time I had it apart.
I'm going to look for the one you posted a link to when I go to the States Monday and may get two. Bass tackle selection is too limited and they want too much for stuff here. Black Sheep Sporting Goods in Cour de' Alene is my new favorite store.

Just picked up this combo for $110. To good of a deal to pass up. I'll probably also get the quantum one, I buy a new rod and reel like every 3 months. Just gonna start with this one and learn how to use it.

Looks like a great deal. I can't wait for Monday. Going to Black Sheeps and coming out with a new reel or two and maybe a rod or two. All my stuff is at least six years old (except for the IR300C) so it's time. I'll just send the wife across the parking lot to the wild bird store while I shop.
