How many of you buy less than a full tank of gas?
With more and more stations adhering to Visa's recommendation on a $50 limit per swipe at the pump, I frequently do not fill up now. I also don't fill up if I have to buy gas at a high priced station - I figure out roughly how much I need to get where I can buy gas considerably cheaper. I did this on my last trip east - I had to buy $3.49 gas on the Indiana toll road - I put $20 in to get me to $3.21 gas on the Ohio Turnpike.

Have no idea. Guess I'm always in too much of a hurry to stop. I'm trying to be better though. However, right now, I'm below a 1/4.

I cannot STAND when the tank gets near 1/4. I am usually filling it up just after 1/2. Why? Because I don't want to ever run out of gas. I have gotten to where the "low fuel" reminder comes on and about had a panic attack. hahahaha It's just one of those things.... gotta be prepared. I will also get into the lane I need to be in about 2+ miles ahead of time.

My mom has run our cars out of gas many times. I think she enjoys running her cars on E. Our Jeep Grand Cherokee's Miles to Empty has shown 0 many times. I swear to God that I've seen it say -7 once as we were going up a hill towards the gas station...

here in Houston i see young people driving their tricked out SUVS and cadillac but when they go fill up they only put 5 to 10 dollars of gas, when i see that i start laughing because that aint gonna get them anywhere. I wait till i get the low fuel light comes on because no one wants to borrow my truck without gas

Silly women, I dont like to let mine get below 1/2 tank. But I drive 100-400 miles a day and never know where or how far I'll have to go much less if I'm going to be or where a "good" gas station is. Plus I dont like to suck the crap from teh bottom of teh tnak, I want it getitng nice clean fresh gas all the time.

You aren't the only one!

I let the gf drive my cobra, got it back BONE DRY! I'm suprised it made it to the gas station. Week later, I let her drive my Focus, same thing! Then I get into her Pathfinder, and fill it up for her. Women.

my wife hates running the tank low and thinks she is almost out of gas at 1/4 tank but her car will go another 90 miles on that

the truck annoys me when the fill gas message comes on at 50 miles to empty

Well, from a safety perspective it makes sense that women should try to keep at least a 1/4 tank so they don't end up stranded at night in a bad part of town/stretch of highway alone.

I push it fairly low, but I make sure to always have at least a couple gallons left.

I have heard in newer cars it can be bad to run it low because the gas gets sloshed around and frothy, and if you run it too low and it sucks air it is bad for the pump. Not sure if that is true or not though
