Been caught speeding

78 in a 65.. last week, 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning on I35, in Bruceville-Eddy.
Honestly, the signs saying "70 mph... 65 mph at night" never even entered my mind. I've always set the cruise at about 80 and never worried about it, never had a problem. Then last week I'm cruising as usual and here come the red and blue lights behind me. I thought, "No, it can't be me!".. lol.. and there actually were a couple of folks blowing by me at the time. Anyway, I reckon I better get on the shoulder, maybe he wants to pass me.. but no, he wanted to write me up...
Anyway, I was speeding, I don't argue with officers. I think it's gonna cost me about $150.

So, anyone using I35, I do believe that there's a new Fife in town between Temple and Waco who's got a blue flame for ticketing, so check your speed there.

First speeding ticket since 1980. WOOHOO!! (_: (o)

Finally someone who owns up to what they did instead of complaining about it and making excuses. Much respect to you.

Yeah good job on admitting fault and not posting a "STUPID COPS!" thread.

You must be a 'tard. He said he KNEW he was speeding and was going to pay for it. Did you even READ the original post?

I might try to fight it if I were cited for doing 70 or less - but even in the daytime 78 is speeding.

I would try to do something to keep the ticket off your record - I don't know what Texas does but here in Illinois you can ask for "court supervision" which is essentially probation - stay clean for a year or two and it's dismissed. You only have to pay the fine.

I got nailed a couple years ago at 2am out in the middle of nowhere - 2 lane highway, straight, level, unpopulated, perfect weather, only car on the road. 77 in a 55. Cop did not want to cut me ANY slack. Called my insurance agent to ask advice about going back out there to ask for supervision - he told me not to bother, State Farm gives you one free pass every so many years. Paid the fine and forgot about it.

I got ticketed for doing 68 mph in a 30 mph parkway. I just wrote a 2 page plea out about what happened... the DA just read it, and she changed it from a speeding violation to a $50 parking ticket with no points. And told me not to do it again.

yeah I read it

he said it would be about $150 not that he was going to pay it and he admitted to speeding...doesn't mean he isn't going to fight it

I was just passing along some info

traffic school is an option here in CA and keeps it off your record but still pay the fine

We do that here too, but if you get anything in the year or 2 years or what ever your probation is, then you get hit with both tickets at once!

i just had a ticket dismissed the other week because the LEO admitted he was wrong when i showed up at Court with pictures and evidence.
the ticked prior to that was reduced to a 3111A, a fine with no points.
If you are courteous to the officer and he sees you have a clean license then most will be willing to do this for you.

Sent in the check today (actually $160 ), no getting out of the fine but I can do a defensive driving course and get it removed from my driving record. Don't know if I even need to, no tickets for anything since maybe 1987, but I guess it won't hurt to rent the dvd and answer some questions on-line. Tho that's another $60 to do that.. need to call my insurance company and find out how much my premiums will change one way or the other.

And yeah, if I'd been stopped for like 40 in a 35 or something I'd probably fight it. But, hey I was 13 mph over... even tho there was no traffic, even tho there were cars passing me, even tho....... LOL

Busted clean is busted clean, pay the man.. NEXT!!!

I'm aware of that. I live in California. In fact I went to traffic school not too long ago. And the judge reduced my fine to $10 for administrative court fees and then it was like $49 for online traffic school that was supposed to take 8 hours. I finished it in 2.
