Just wanted everyone to be aware. The tubes were sold in NJ, NY, PA and MD.

Shouldn't be a problem, people in those states don't really brush their teeth, do they?

LOL!!

always remember that flouride is a very potent neurotoxin, that's why it says to call poison control on every tube if you swallow more than a pea-size amount.

Yes it prevents cavities, but it also poisons us very slowly. How cool is that?!

Not that I advocate drinking only spring water and pure grain alcohol or anything..

You all did hear about this imported toothpaste using glycol (antifreeze) in them. It killed like 50 people last year down in Panama. China is to blame. They claim the amount of glycol in the toothpaste is with in the safe limits for human consuption. Just like the wheat gluten used in the pet food that killed a bunch of dogs and cats earlier this year. China is starting a friggen biological war here. lets get back at them with some e-coli beef!

The product in question is counterfeit and was sold at such locations as 'Dollar Tree' and 'Everything is $1'. It was imported and Colgate does not import their toothpastes; they are all made here in the USofA.

IE: Colgate isn't to blame on this one...

That fact has been known for years. People should always look for the ADA seal on their toothpaste.

I agree. How stupid are we buying food items from China

IMO, I just lost a 4 yo chocolate lab to the Chinese's tainted wheat gluten. He was a great dog and was eating the tainted Alpo until about 12 months ago. He didn't die right away. He had a slow progression of illnesses (vomiting, arthritis, disorientation, seizures) until he finally died of metabolic seizures. I know where 3 of his siblings are and they are doing fine. None of them were eating the tainted food.

I know from reading labels on my kids Halloween candy that the vast majority of jelly types of novelty (Spongebob, jelly hamburgers….) candy is made in china. I don’t allow my kids to eat it. Some of the dry sweettart types of candy are also made there. I throw all of this crap out.

I guess it’s hard to always see cause and effect when it comes to poisoning. We have little/no control of food produced in china. I’d rather see it never come into North America.

Just another .02 to throw in here..

A local news station investigated some of the items that are sold at the dollar stores (this was about 2 years ago).
Toothpaste was at the top of the list of something to NEVER purchase at these stores. Much of it is actually made for the Mexican / central and south american markets (mostly produced in various european countries, and yes, China) and contains levels of fluoride that the FDA considers toxic.
No such rules in those markets. I wish they'd have addressed why the stuff is even allowed to be sold here, but they didn't.

Also, at least here in Texas, there is a lot of Mexican candy sold in convenience stores. It's been known for years that much of it has dangerous levels of lead, and yet it's still allowed to be sold.

As for the poisoned dog food, I think I just got lucky. I've always fed my lab Pedigree dry and canned and it was one of the very few brands not tainted.
