'French Spiderman' expelled from China

I could never imagine climbing an 88 story building and then going back down. Much less without ropes or other safety equipment.

Alain Robert was arrested Thursday after having scaled and descended the 430-metre (1,410 feet) Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai, dressed in his trademark Spiderman costume and without any ropes or safety equipment.
Robert was put on an Air France plane which left Shanghai airport at 11:20 am (0320 GMT) on Tuesday, an official from the French consulate here said.
The climb -- which had not been approved by Chinese authorities -- brought traffic to a standstill and attracted a large crowd of onlookers near the 88-storey tower, many snapping pictures with their mobile phones.
The 44-year-old "urban climber" has been tackling the world's tallest buildings -- often illegally -- since 1994, according to his website.
In 1998 in Japan, he was sentenced to 20 days in prison for climbing a Tokyo tower, although he was released after five days following the intervention of the French ambassador.
The daredevil was also arrested during an attempt to climb Malaysia's 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers in March this year after reaching the 60th floor.

I saw him climb the National Bank of Abu Dhabi in 2003 with about 100,000 other people.
Quite a site to behold.

This guy climbs like a monkey, it's really unbelievable.
No ropes, no nets, no fk all.

The info I received was that the Sheikh who happens to own the bank paid him 1M for the climb, as a way to give the towns folk some entertainment.

Not bad, 1M for 45 minutes work

I believe there was one building he didn't complete. He had cramps and had to be rescued. Amazing guy anyhow. Hopefully he doesn't hurt himself or anyone else.

His name is Alain Robert. The dude even made it to the top to the Sears Tower..

It's all the more impressive when you consider he suffers from vertigo and has broken just about every bone in his body from falls (enough to qualify for technically being 60% handicapped).
