Exclamation Why not to speed!

When I was coming home from work, I noticed a bunch of ambulances and fire trucks down my street. So I told the person that was directing traffic that I lived down the street (I really don't, but I had to stop by my guy who orders me car detailing products... and I use his place as a complete storage shack, for JUNK.. LOL) and she let me through with no question.

So I carefully drove down the street and I drove into my buddies' place. He was obviously outside not shocked at what happened. As he and I both agreed that:

1. People drive wayyy toooo fast on this particular piece of the road.
2. When people drive down this road they tend to ride the center or what is known as "straddeling the road" because they are going over the speed limit in which the person driving is able to safely control their vehicle.
3. This road was meant only for light duty traffic and farm traffic. Not highway traffic as it is used now... especially since a major highway runs parallel to it and the speed limit is 55 mph.

It has seriously gotten so bad, that I can't even walk or run no more on it without having the fear of some creep running me over with his LeSabre doing 90 mph.

What's really pathetic is where that accident occured, I am lucky to be able to do 35 mph through it and it feels like my truck is going to go off the road. So I have no clue how people can do it in a car doing 45 to 55 mph and even higher... and what it must do to the suspension components.

Anyhow, back to what happened..... According to all of the witnesses, there were 3 people, all were teenagers. A few of the witnesses said that 2 of them were fighting. (Which I believe is total B.S.) A few said that all of them were fighting... which is it... who knows. Besides, how do you know they were fighting when they were doing 90 mph down the road. :rollseyes You can't unless you were standing right there... which I highly double that all of those witnesses were clearly standing by the road.

So basically they were speeding down the road, and they lost control, because they were speeding, and they crashed their car into a tree splitting it directly in half. :woa:

So were they goin' fast or what?! I think they were..... haha

Serves them right... I betcha it was ones of those daily tailgaters too driving a ricer. So instead of getting my Reese Pintle Hook, it got a tree... as the tree still stands laughing it's petty little bark off.

What kind of tree did it hit? About a 40 year old oak tree. So there was a nick in the tree... but it demolished a car in half. I wonder if I made an oak bumper if it sustain a blast into a concrete wall? Hmmmmmm! My next mod! :grillsmil

Did they get hurt? Well, I would say so. As far as what it entails... no one has mentioned anything. So I've got to say they are all still alive.... but are in pretty bad shape.

But hey... you play ya pay on these country roads. And that is no lie my friends.

I really don't care. Personally, I would have rather seen her live, and deal with it for the rest of her life.

Just think, instead of hitting that tree, it could have been me running getting in my daily excercise.

I also hope that the other families sue the life out of each other.

It's not right that us good drivers need to be subjected to crazy idiots like this. Then we wonder why our insurance premiums are sky high. Not to mention it makes the roadways less as safe.

I'm just happy they didn't kill no one outside of the car.

"Woods was was ticketed for speed not reasonable and prudent, failure to keep right, reckless driving and having unsafe tires."

Speed alone does not kill, or cause harm.

I had to wait a few minutes to reply to this post because it pissed me off so much. Your saying that an 18 year-old girl deserved to die, there are few that deserve to die. People make mistakes, your telling me you never drank and drove, or went over the speed limit doing something stupid when you were younger? Most, including I can say we have done something irresponsible behind the wheel. She had nothing at all to do with the accident, She was not the irresonsible person driving the vehicle. I dont know if you have lost anyone recently, or have experienced death close to you or your family but it F*ing sucks, and nobody should ever have to experience the death of their 18 year-old child. I lost my best friend (18-years old) on February 20, 2007. He hit a tree at 40 Mph on a snowmobile. That was it, it was an accident, he hit a bump in the trail and lost control. Thats it, he wasnt drinking, on drugs, riding above his level, nothing. The media twisted it and said he was irresponsible and flew 60ft in mid-air and hit the tree. I was there and can tell you he didnt fly any 60-ft. It was 60ft, from the bump he hit and lost control to the tree. So just because something tells the story a certain way, dont believe everything you read. You didnt see that accident did you? No. Most likely you are right and they were doing something stupid, most teenage kids do. But I still do not agree that they got what they deserved. If that was the case, many people on this site would not be around. Please take a second look at the situation and think about how that poor girls family feels. Maybe you shouldnt be ranting, you should be talking about how irresponsible drivers cause so many deaths ever year and it is a shame that this young woman is gone. Sorry if I offended you in any way, just putting in my .02.

Speeding = bad.

The death of teenagers speeding = worse.

No one deserves to die for speeding.

Common Manual. You seriously dont feel like these kids got what they deserved do you?

My dept. had a call very similar to this last November when a 15 yr old who was riding in the back seat was struck in the head by a small appliance and was partially ejected from the car after it hit head on into a tree at a high rate of speed. The driver and the other occupant survived the crash. So here is this girl riding along and ends up dying due to someone elses poor judgement.

You guys are right... maybe I'm being a little too inconsiderate...

Besides, after some careful thought, I do feel bad. It was an 'accident'... meaning a mistake... but we all can control our actions.... just they deliberatly thought by going faster was cool.

But whatever... nothing I could have stopped nor you guys.

Maybe I did act off key... but it was just how I felt at the time.

I'm glad you re-thought it. We are all young and dumb in our lives. . just some get it worse than others. But I'll say this, I respect someone that can man up especially on an internet forum where everyone thinks they have to be some tough guy. Good job!
