Any Rush fans? plan to catch the tour?

got tix for myself and a couple friends to see Rush in San Antone (Selma) in August.. last time I saw them was 1982, I think.. Moving Pictures tour..
Yeah, I'm old, they're old, don't care too much for any of their newer stuff, but just want to see 'em do 2112, Closer To The Heart, Tom Sawyer, By-Tor, etc., one more time..

2112 is classic. I never liked their stuff past "All the World's a Stage" quite as much. Not that they haven't been a great band all along.
Like to get a Hughes and Kettner amp like Lifeson uses. I've played a few and they sound great.

He has always had a unique sound I've always thought.. Is it the amps that do it?
If you've never seen the Rush In Rio DVD I would HIGHLY recommend it!!

I have to add one thing though.. I haven't been to a "big name" show in maybe 10 years.. Saw the Stones here last year and it was FREE!!.. lol.. they didn't sell as many tickets as they planned so they let us all in without tix at the last minute... now THOSE guys are old, but still kick it!!

Anyway, the Rush tickets were $52 for reserved seats (the closer ones were $85).. in 82 I seem to remember it was $15 for 15th row floor..

The good old days!!.. LOL..

The amps and effects play a part but he's also a great guitarist.

A friend at work loaned me the Rio DVD... it was very good. The fans at that show must have had a great time. They seemed to be going nuts!

Those ticket prices are resonable. A great show for less than $100

I saw Rush in 1978 just before Hemispheres came out at the Music Hall in Boston..
They did 2112 and alot of stuff from "All The World's A Stage"..
Awesome stuff..

Have seen them 10 times over the years...
Love the old stuff..
Don't really care for the newer stuff..

Neil still is the icon...

Neil Peart is the best drummer this planet has seen, and one of the finest poets as well.. He's not as appreciated as he deserves..

yeah, he's definitely amongst the best, and he's influenced more than a few who are up there with him

if you like listening to drummers with exceptional hands, check out brann dailor from mastodon too

Yes he is one of the best...No doubt about it..

Go see Mike Portnoy with Dream Theater...

I'm afraid Neil has been upstaged...

And I'm a drummer myself...

just from this one cd (which I have blastin' right now), I believe they're a Christian rock band?.. nothing against that for sure, there's no denying the musicianship, soooo tight!!.. if not Christian rock, it's at least spiritual, but.. DAMN!!!.. these guys are tight and GOOD!!
