What is a sig?
Is it not an expression of ones self?
Does it not represent ones character?
Is it not basically a web banner ad for the member?
Is it not also brand recognition for the posters?
Is it not for the purpose of the reader to be able to follow a thread and know who is saying what?

So with that being the case. Then what is a dumb sig?
Is it having a large pic of a truck that looks like 1000's of other I see on the road ever day? Then typing a list of all the mods that we cant see to create the illusion that the truck has some sort of individuality?

I'd agree, I know it's easier to follow the crowd.
It's hard to stand out and be different, it requires a strong back bone and alot of character.
When you consider there are only about 20 of us with the 500x100 sigs, about 20 of us supporting the owner of the site, 20 out of 100,000, thats only .02% of us. So I'd say we are going against the crowd by a small margin.

Everyone conforms to someone to fit in. Leaders adopt and change as needed.
Good Grief!

Dude, lighten up! This is an internet forum, not a job at the Pentagon. As far as following the crowd, I'm not sure that you have any right to say things about someone you don't even know. What I say on a discussion forum is NOT how I live my life. Sounds like you have some kind of chip on your shoulder about what a moderator "suggested" about the size. Conformity, in my opinion, is doing what someone "suggests" that you do, not what you want to do. I agree that a sig is a representation of the individual, but to me, a simple "500x100" image stating only that information is not the best way to display ones web identity. Some of them are pretty interesting, and I am a supporter of one's individual will. I was not trying to offend anyone (as you seem to be making an attempt at) I was simply discussing my opinion about the matter. You don't have to agree with me, and I don't have to agree with you. Stating one's opinion is what makes the internet and this country great. Anyway, I really couldn't care less what anyone here or anywhere thinks about me. I know that I am who I am, and no one is going to influence how I live my life, ESPECIALLY on an internet forum.
I like to have fun with this forum, just like everyone else, and some may not agree with what I view as fun, but that is not going to change the way I feel.

So what sofeware are you guys using to make your sigs 500x100? Everytime I try to change my pic for the sig it gets all funny looking. Although I need to find a new pic of the truck to use.

AngstromEdit v1.0 Beta. Real small.

Second choice: Infintesima Pro v2.2.1.5.32.7 SP2.

Third choice: SubAtomicSigs Release 3, with Conformist Module plug-in

Cheers

I use photoshop 7.0.
I'm a little behind the times. I may upgrade when CS3 comes out.

Talk about killing a fly with a sledgehammer!

That's like folks firing up the full Office Suite to compose a 3 line memo....

If you are on a budget, try searching for freewre/shareware editing tools.

I do pre press graphic composition on the side though and recently relunctantly ventured into dabbeling in web marketing designs after a friend sorta pushed me into it.

Alot of people use photoshop. I've got some wild sigs that I've done for myself and others. There is alot of members with alot of skill on this board too. This one doesnt have the wow factor becasue I didnt have time.
