Bed Tents
I just went camping in mine again this weekend... But I think that if you had the 8" tent that would be fine (I have a Sportz III or something) as the floor would just go over the toolbox and you could just put junk up there... I have some photos somewhere of mine maybe it would make it clearer... But if you had a 6' on a 8' bed it would leak into the bed and that might be fubar.
Get a big tarp. That's what I did.
I have a roll bar so I use it as a main tent support. The I lash PVC pipes to it at the wheel well. Two more PVC pipes attached at the rear corners and it's perfect.

I do it like a man, I pick my site, clear the rocks, spread the tent, set it up and stake it down. Becasue of my manly outdoor skills I am confident that it will not blow away or leak because I did it right with out the use or assistance of a vehicle.
Then after all of that, I will often lay out in the open outside under the stars and sleep, becasue I'm not a litle girly girl scared of bugs or mosquitos. In fact they are scared of me!
