The owner of ebay???? Are you kidding me?

It's publicly traded, which one are you referring to?

And if you want to know how much revenue or profit they are making, a simple stock search will tell you.

Pierre Omidyar (currently 39 years old) is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of eBay. On top of his salary and other bennies, he still owns 190,155,408 shares of eBay, which is currently worth a bit more than $6.5 Billion dollars.

Then you've got Meg Whitman who's the CEO, Rober H Swan to the CFO, John Donahoe whose the President of Market Places, Michael Jacobson whose the Senior VP of Legal Affairs, etc.

When it comes right down to it, I'm also an owner of eBay since I've owned shares for quite some time

Ebay founders, Pierre Omidyar and Jeff Skoll, they are not hurting for money at this time.

The Executive team of Ebay is as following:

Beth Axelrod, Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Matt Bannick, President, eBay International

William C. Cobb, President, eBay North America

John Donahoe, President, eBay Marketplace

Rajiv Dutta, Chief Financial Officer

Michael Jacobson, Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Jeff Jordan, President, PayPal

Alex Kazim, Senior Vice President, New Ventures

Pierre Omidyar, Founder and Chairman of the Board

Scott Thompson, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, PayPal

Maynard Webb, Chief Operating Officer

Meg Whitman, President and CEO

Yea they arent hurting either.....

The owner of ebay . . . is Edward Bay (hence the name . . . E for Edward and Bay, his last name). He used to own a pawn shop and then one day he had the brilliant idea to let people sell their crap to each other and take a fee for essentially being a virtual middle-man.

Brilliant!

He's kidding....
Ebay didnt become ebay until 1997 prior to that it was AuctionWeb. Originally, the site belonged to Echo Bay Technology Group, Omidyar's consulting firm. Omidyar had tried to register the domain name EchoBay.com but found it already taken by the Echo Bay Mines, a gold mining company, so he shortened it to his second choice, eBay.com

In 1998 Ebay released a press release stating that the site was sparked as an idea to help Omidyar's finace find antique Pez dispencers. However this was later found to be false and was exclenet PR to get the nterest of the press. Ebays start was not glamorous in the least, it was very rough, rocky and almost failed.

However yet another story is told on Ebay (here).......

Pierre Omidyar
Founder and Chairman of the Board, eBay

As founder and chairman of eBay, Pierre Omidyar changed the face of Internet commerce in 1995 when he launched eBay to experiment how equal access to information and opportunities would affect the efficiency of a marketplace. Ten years later, his experiment continues to prove the benefits of a level playing field: hundreds of thousands of members make their living entirely on eBay, more than 150 million people trust strangers with every transaction, and people find common ground where none seemed to exist before.

When Pierre launched eBay as a hobby, his "day job" was conducting developer relations for General Magic. Prior to General Magic, he co-founded Ink Development Corp., which was renamed eShop and acquired by Microsoft. His career began in the software engineering business as a developer for Claris, a subsidiary of Apple Computer, where he worked on consumer applications.

Today, Pierre is CEO of Omidyar Network, a mission-based investment group he established with his wife, Pam, in June 2004. Omidyar Network is committed to fostering individual self-empowerment across the economic, political and social realms. The Network funds for-profits, nonprofits and public policy efforts that promote level playing fields, collaboration, and rich connections around shared interests to enable individuals to pursue what matters most to them.

In addition to his roles with eBay and Omidyar Network, Pierre serves as a Trustee of Tufts University and Santa Fe Institute, and a Director of Meetup Inc.

Pierre graduated from Tufts University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in computer science.
Maybe it's all a conspiracy, I bet Pierre Omidyar is actually Bill Gates!!!
