OK, I got to put my 2 cents in. You got to give credit to GM. They started this engine way back when 50's? They still use the basic idea of the engine today 50 years later ohv pushrod V8 although more modernized. Can we say that about Ford? Ford droped their good engines, 302, 351 in all config, 460 and left us with these "modular" engines which everyone has different ideas about. I'm not gonna bash any of the big 3. They all got their good points and bad points, I've learned this by working on them all but got to give GM credit for standing the test of time

You mistake standing the test of time with bean counters not coughing up enough money for new engine development. Pushrods are a thing of the past because of the limitations. And don't give me this "if overhead cams are so good how come ford is underpowered" stuff. Just because ford hasnt used the design to the full potential doesn't mean it isn't the best configuration.

Why totally redesign their engine lineup when their old pushrod mills are still very competetive as it is?
