Damn right, Kimber makes great pistols. I have the same model as you and just love it.

I got a Wilson Combat catalog in the mail a couple weeks back and nearly collapsed when I saw they're prices, but they are awesome guns.

I actually have no idea what the spring lb. is, just the one that came with the gun... it shoots fine, only put about 200 rounds through it so far and has only jammed 2 times (500rd break in)

And yes those wilson mags were expensive but they are 5x's better than the mags that come with them and my life could depend on them some day...

I would IMHO would go to a gun shop "with a range" so you can shoot many pistols before buying so you can see the feel, accurracy, and build of the gun which is VERY important.... I personally choose a Stainless Steel .40 Taurus which hold 12 rounds and is very accurate and plenty of knock down power...... I might be saying this wrong so please guys feel free to correct me......If you are wanting to hunt I'd go with a holow point .40 round, it has enough power and is more accurate from a further distance than a .45, again this is just my opinion and what have seen with shooting each caliber gun. here a pic of my gun...its a PT-100 Taurus .40cal and is VERY acurate Ive shoot over 2,000 rounds without any problems or jams

I'm no hunter, but I would doubt a 40 packs enough punch unless you're getting up close to finish the animal off.

i have rugers, a 9 and a 45 love them both. VERY reliable and built to last kinda like ford (overbuilt) i would advise against hunting with a semi auto pistol

A .40 hollow point will do the trick within 30 yds of most animals including deer...

Semiwad cutter from a .40SW has enough power to go through the skull of a boar and out near the pelvic bone from about 15 yrds. It all depends on placement and choosing the right bullet.

Go to the range and rent a few different pistols to see what you like and can shoot well.

I personally like the .45 and thats what i carry but, as much as i shoot and the price of ammo,(i just got a case of .45 for $220) i think you should look at the other smaller calibers. you can shoot alot more 9mm without breaking the bank or wrist.

Agree 100%.......... im paying around 13$ for a 50ct box of FMJ .40cals and 20$ for a box of 20ct hollow points.

The .40 caliber is a great round but the .45 is superior to it, look at all the research that has gone into the .45 and why the army has used it for almost 100 years.

Range and knock down all depend on the type of bullet/ammo. If i wanna shoot someone invading my house, I would choose a 230 hollow point. If I wanna shoot something about 40-50 yds. away I would choose a small grain bullet with +p. I know some of you guys think this is bull but I saw someone made a round for auto .45's that was 68 grains and could shoot 2,300 fps! I have also seen shotgun shell ammo for .45's as well

The .40 was a 10mm special with the intentions of making bridging the gap between high cap, poor impact energy 9mm and the low cap knockdown king .45acp. Fact is there are people out there who can't shoot the .45 but want more power than the 9mm offered for a long time. The increased speed of the .40 makes up for the slightly smaller size. They are pretty much on par for downrange power.

The .40cal hollow points I use are the Federal Premium personal defense 135 grain hydroshocks.....

at 50yds they have an fps=970 and 280ft-lbs of force with a Avg height trajectory roughly 1" which is pretty strong from that distance

Anyone here tried the 357sig? I am going to see if they have one to rent at the range.

at 50 yds with 115gr JHP:
velocity = 1301 fps
energy = 432 ft/lbs
trail = .5

I almost chose this over the 686p, but I preferred the revolver this time.

Ammo for the 357sig is real expensive compared to other handgun rounds. It was similair to the .45GAP, an answer to a question noone was asking.
