EGR code P0402
EGR code P0402
Hello All,
I recently became a member after reading many good technician assistant questions. I have a 1997 F150 2wd with a 4.6 engine, dual exhaust, and added the K&N air filter. I have always made all of my own repairs and determined to fix this problem. After getting the p0402 excessive EGR code, I checked all lines for leaks or crackes with negative results. Then replaced EGR sensor where the ref and norm vaccum lines go with negative results. After that I replaced the EGR valve, what a pain getting that 1 1/4 line off. Still no joy, my truck is running worse and worse. Now at about 45mph it starts to hesitate or buck all the way to about 55mph. I plan to take the TB off next and check for excessive carbon build up in the ports. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this. I would greatly appreciate any assistance. I really love my tru
ck and hate to have to take it in for someone else to work on it. I am the orginal owner and a flight mechanic for the Coast Guard with over 22 years. Someone let me know what you think.
